Question for Jesus: Bufferpools=0 with <1GB ATI?

Recommended Posts

Hi *******,In your original bufferpools thread you mention that video cards with under 1 GB of memory would likely crash as a result of the tweak because FSX doesn't know how to manage video memory. In one of the other threads, though, I noticed that you basically said that ATIs had such an efficient architecture for these purposes that they often don't even come close to using the same amount of memory as Nvidia cards (maybe I misunderstood this, though). I have a 512 MB ATI HD4850 card in my laptop--is there any point in even trying the tweak, do you think, or is that way too little video memory for it to do anything but crash my computer? Thanks for your brilliant tweaking discoveries--even if bufferpools isn't going to help me, I'm certainly glad to have someone of your obvious talent and perserverance on the case.Best,James

Hi James,sure.. go ahead, all 4000 & 5000 ATI's are capable on handling BP=0 you need at least 512MB and, of course, sensible slider settings.
