FS2004/FSX --> GPS NMEA --> network --> 3rd party map (...

Hi everyone. I'd like to ask your help for a college project I'm working on. I'm using a mapping program to provide some terrain information and I need to simulate a Cessna flying over in complex patterns. I'd like to use MS Flight Simulator to provide the GPS information in NMEA format. The problem is, I don't know how to do it. Basically here's what I want to do..FS --> export current aircraft position in GPS NMEA format --> broadcast NMEA GPS data through a network onto a secondary computer --> read the network broadcast and feed NMEA data to a Virtual COM port for a GPS mapping program on a second computerSo far I found Pete Dawson's GPSOut (needs FSUIPC) and Franson GPS Gate, which does COM port broadcasting. I don't really see how I can make one "talk" to the other. Does anyone know how I could accomplish this? I've seen software that outputs to a COM port, which needs a physical RS-232 cable, but nothing that will broadcast across a TCP/IP network.http://franson.com/gpsgate/http://www.gpsvehiclenavigation.com/GPS/netgps.phphttp://www.fikogroup.com/GNSSTECH/FSFDEXGA...age=1&menu=0BDIhttp://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html (GPS Out)Any help is GREATLY appreciated.Enrique==========================Frequency change approved,Good day.

You need WideFS, another excellent program from Pete Dowson. Basically, you need FSUIPC and GPSOut on the FS9 PC. There's a line in the GPSOut.ini file that outputs the NMEA data to Widefs over the network. You'll also need to install a virtual Com Port to "loop" the Data from WideFS to the Map program. This is proving to be quite hard to explain.. so get the following from Pete's site and read the Readme's, everything you need is there....http://www.schiratti.com/files/dowson/WideFS.ziphttp://www.schiratti.com/files/dowson/FSUI...imestamp=010607http://www.schiratti.com/files/dowson/GPSout.zipWith these programs it will work fine, I use Memory-Map to diplay my Position on my Laptop. There's probably some way to take the GPSOut on the FS computer and route that to other computers by some sort of an encapsulated COM port, but since I had registered WideFS already, it was easier for me to route the FS data using that, and then converting to GPSout format on the client computer. scott s..
