To Jesus aka Bojote..this is your high octane gas....

Recommended Posts

*******, the following tweaks have turned my FSX into a high-octane and smooth running HOT ROD! What a ride your 'Holy Grail' thread turned out to be...and you know what? For myself, and my i7-975/GTX285 1GB system....IT WAS!The following tweaks proved to be the high-octane gas for my FSX engine...Here is Bojote's High Octane Blend, lol for i7 XXX systems running nvidia cards.... as per my system;[GRAPHICS]HIGHMEMFIX=1 STALE_BUFFER_THRESHOLD=2147483647[DISPLAY]TextureMaxLoad=30TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400Post Edit: This is my added tweak for great visuals well-formed, and miles out from the aircraft position:[TERRAIN]LOD_RADIUS=6.500000TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=600[bufferPools]BufferPools=1000000 ***** yeah, yeah...I know it was originally '0' but I get no artifacts, no hangs, and smooth animation as glass with the SP1 level as this forces FSX to have. This truly gives me as good as if it had been set to zero but no nasties! On my system at least.

Well, I think we all agree that it was a 'coordinated' organized testing effort. So, credits go to all that participated in that thread... and Avsim for being so kind to host it and pin it! seems to be rather popular now ;)as for.. using different values, no prob!! the guide is a reference :) you actually use what you want to use!

If you swap out these SECTIONS with what I have posted here by cut and past, and then save your FSX.cfg file, then the next time you fire up FSX, it will init itself to exactly each mask as I have my FSX as. Only swap out out line for line of what you see here for your .cfg file. You need the rest of yours to not corrupt your file. Here goes...--------------------------------------------------------------[bufferPools] This is a great idea to post your settings, but I think it would be helpful to also post your hardware. Those that are experimenting may find it useful as a starting point if they find one that is close to their hardware spec.Just a thought.Bob G

Bert,Are you using NHancer?
Yes, I am: 8XS AA, 16X AF, and Vsynch=ON.

Those are my setting too Bert. I just took off at KCLM flying over the Olympic National Forest towards Bremerton, with all sliders hard right, except Autogen at VERY DENSE. I am also using TML=9, TBM=400, Vsync doesn't seem to matter, clouds out to the max with max density, and have totally fluid flight locked at 31, with just a slight drop at one point in the flight to 24 or so. I tried no nHancer, but IQ suffers greatly when you go down from 8xS IMO. There is no reason to lose nHancer when you have virtual perfection. I also attribute this high end performance to this wonderful latency, on my now old QX9650 w/ mushram. The BP tweak has helped, but it was pretty dang good before.I'm the 46.1ns at the top. To do 4.2Ghz and this sort of mem speed, I need to go too high on volts to make it worth it, plus active cool it.Amazing stuff!I am so glad I splurged for a good CPU/memory and mainboard. There is clearly NO REASON to move to i7. I had hoped this would be the case when I coughed up (choke!) $950 for my processor. But it has allowed me to play with lots of variables, including clockspeeds of up to 4.4Ghz. No need, simply no need now. With my CPU at 3.9G there is no need for my active cooling solution as temps stay below 60 at all times using coretemp. My in-wall A/C unit does blow air into my open case, but I don't need to turn on A/C now at this speed. Now I just have to decide if I should part with $130 for all of Australia! That's alot of dough, but it's nice stuff. In fact, I like Australia more than PNW--it's just less busy and prettier to fly in.Noel

Agree totally Noel - I have my 9650 w/ mushram 8-8-8-24-1T running happily along at 3.88. just can't justify changing to an i7. The BP tweak did nothing for me and I'm currently testing the shader_cache/Highmemfix/TML tweak. So far no negatives but haven't determined if there are any positives yet.BTW, if you haven't tried it - the A2A B-17/Accusim is absolutely outstanding and fun to fly!Vic

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400 <--- I thought NickN concluded that this does nothing at 100-400 after SP2/Acceleration (or even non-single core processors...i think). "Post Edit: This is my added tweak for great visuals well-formed, and miles out from the aircraft position:[TERRAIN]LOD_RADIUS=6.500000" <----- doesn't this cause your loading time to be twice as long? As I joke I put it up to 10 and it hung on 30% for about 15 minutes. Needless to say I changed it, but at 6.5 it takes about 2-3 times longer to load. I don't have that kind of patience lol. Anyway, the stickied BP=0 thread helped me out. I can finally run with AA and get a respectable 15-40 FPS depending on where I am. Usually KDTW or KJFK will give me 12-18 until I'm in the air. But anyway great stuff, just trying to get my head wrapped around all the infinite knowledge!

That value is part of a formula, it 'affects' the texture manager 'cap' on bytes to transfer per frame. When nick concluded that, there were probably no add ons transfering so much texture and data, such as PNW.. so, there was no way to observe any positive effects going past 100. Do, its important to understand the difference between a 'cap' and 'enforced' texture transfer

These are pretty good settings, I had a stuttering issue when flying over dense forests, now gone. The fps though didn't change much, maybe because of the tweaks I've already done. Captain 757 runs at 40fps at a dense airport like SFO, 100+fps when in the air. Core i7 230, overclocked to 3.8ghz3ghz triple channel 1800mhzKingston Solid state hddGeForce GTX 260Win7
