Installing Reality XP WX500 Radar

For all those trying to install the Reality XP WX500 Radar, I got the solution from Carenado. I appears that your can't remove the default radar without causing the instrument panel to vanish, but you can minimize it. I use the Flight1 FS Panel Studio to replace gauges in virtual cockpits. While it's difficult, if not impossible (at least for me), to create a new virtual cockpit with FS Panel Studio, I can still use FS Panel Studio to "swap" gauges in an existing virtual cockpit. I loaded the Caravan Panel and went to the appropriate virtual window with the Carenado Radar, and using the grid, I determined the location and dimensions of the Carenado radar screen. I then minimized the Carenado radar screen to 1 pixel by 1 pixel and moved it to the extreme upper right corner of where the full radar screen used to be. I then added the Reality XP Wx500 radar and placed it on top of the minimized Carenado radar (after resizing the Reality XP radar to the same dimensions as the original Carenado radar screen and placing the Reality XP screen in the same location where the Carenado screen used to be). I saved the panel, fired up FSX, and lo-and-behold, there was the complete panel with the RealityXP radar. I then shut down FSX, restarted FS Panel Studio, and replaced the HSI, VSI, Turn Coodinator, etc., saved the panel again, and when I started FSX again, it was all there with no invisible panel. thanx mike. this has already been posted here a while ago.I also replaced the carenado weather with the captain sim weather gauge just as you described and according to older post and it work perfectly

Hi All --- replaced the stock radar with FS Panel Studio directly in the VC panel. I followed the proper procedure for getting and using the gauge size and coordinates. That is really all you need. I did shrink the stock radar to a very small size (few pixels square) and placed it UNDER the location for the WX500.When I first brought up the panel, the gauge was a bit "stretched" but a slight adjustment in FS Panel Studio and a reload of the plane worked great.Having a functional WX radar in this fine add-on is the whipped cream on the dessert.Thanks All --- Bob

i can't get it worked. i tried your panel cfg , and it showed up itself on vc, but very low quality (i cant even read ) and buttons not working

I just took out the part for rxpWX500 since I don't own all the RealityXp gauges. If you don't change anything else, it should work.

Now we're talking. Thanks to your tips in this very thread I'm running the RXP and the CS weather radar in the VC now. Great stuff.Strange dependency with the Carenado weather gauge and the loss of textures then, huh? Didn't quite understand it I must admit, but now that it's disabled by just being resized, everything works like a charm. Thanks again.
