TrackIR installation problem

Recommended Posts

Guest Addi727

Hi everybody and merry christmas.I did post this at the TrackIR forum, but i get no reply there. Just got myself TrackIR5 with Track clip pro for christmas and was trying to install it.But i have a problem, when i run setup, I get 2 different errors. The first one comes up almost immediatly and reads "Setup failed to run installation. One or more arguments are not correct." I then click on OK on the popup window and the process ends. Then if I try to install again without rebooting, I get. "Error extracting support files. The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process". this ends if i go into task manager and end IKernel.exe *32 process.Have tried to install TrackIR_5.0.Final.b and 5.1.beta.02, also both 4.1.036 and 037 and all give me the same problem. I did see that somebody got it fixed by re-installing Win7, but no way i´m doing that, also, i do not have another computer to install and copy fromSystem is a new I7 940 with win7 64 and nvidia 460GTXPlease advice.

Turn off UAC and try Run As Administrator - see if that helps. Also temporarily disable anti virus.Vic

The solution for me was to boot into safe mode and install from there. Just press F8 during Windows boot procedure to enter safe mode.I suspect the error was caused by my firewall of anti-virus software. This is what Microsoft say to do under Windows XPThis issue may occur if one or more of the following files are missing from the Windows\System32 folder:
  • Stdole32.tlb
  • Stdole2.tlb
  • Stdole.tlb

To resolve this issue, expand the appropriate file from the Windows XP CD:

  1. Click Start, click Run, and then type CMD. Click OK.
  2. To change to the root folder of drive C, type cd\, and then press ENTER.
  3. Insert the Windows XP CD, type Expand cd_drive_letter:\i386\filename.tl_ drive:\Windows\system32\filename.tlb, and then press ENTER, where filename is the name of the file that you want to expand and drive is the letter of the drive where Windows is installed.
