I don't think it could be done with flight simulator.Xplane has two ways to put an object into the sim:- .obj : it's a 3d object , shaped and textured in a 3D software. - .fac : with facades, objects are made of textured vectors. you specify the polygon points, and the texture to apply on it.Osm2xp use facades, it's the only way to generate objects on the fly with specific shapes and dimensions , each generated building is "unique" , and matchs 100% open street map data, thanks to the facades type.As far as i know Flight simulator is stuck with 3D objects only, so the only thing that could be done is to place a 3D object at the right position, but the shape would be tottaly wrong, so buildings could be crossing one another, crossing roads etc...Now if you're into VFR flying over photoreal sceneries, i would highly suggest you to try Xplane.I've been using Flight simulator for more than a decade, and made the switch to xplane a few month ago, and it's a really better experience when what you're after is photoreal vfr and general aviation:-No blurries-Better performance-Better feeling with planes in my opinion, especially light planes.-a lot of tools to make photoreal sceneries (G2xpl : tileproxy like , xposm : roads generation from open street maps, osm2xp : buildings generation from open street maps)I started osm2xp to make my local town looking as real as it could into xplane, and what i have now in my sim couldn't be done in FSX.Here are two screens to describe this, the left one i took in real life on a dr400 , and the right one is into xplane (old version of osm2xp, buildings look nicer now)1_s.jpg 1x_s.jpg2_s.jpg 2x_s.jpgPlus there is a lot of talented peoples enhancing Xplane, and lots of freeware. The FSX world has become a payware thing, xplane has another feeling to it, you can see huge projects released free, with commercial quality, like xpfr production for exemple.

Hello,With the release of osm2xp 1.1 , and its pbf support, i've started to generate sceneries for the whole world. These scenery files consists of buildings, forests, and openscenery objects (so you MUST have opensceneryX installed)You can grab the files at this adress http://scenery.osm2xp.com/As OpenStreetMaps data coverage vary a lot from one country to another, you should check on their website how is your area of interest (Europe is by far the best covered place). I'll try to update files every week, so if you area is empty, start mapping, and next week your buildings will be there :)1s.jpg 2s.jpg3s.jpg 4s.jpg

You must have java 1.6 installed, and the matching version of your os (if you are under win64 you must have java 64 bit installed).Seeing your sig you seem to be a fsx user, maybe you want to try osm2xp with xplane10 demo?Well if that's the case you should know that openStreetMap data is very poor in United States, so if you try it around the demo area you will be really disapointed (plus there's a bug with current XP10 engine that cause osm2xp roofs to have texture problems, Ben Supnik is looking into it).osm2xp is made for photoreal scenery, and at the moment it's mainly an Europe thing. In fact there are four places in north America where it's really worth the try (links to openStreetMap area to show the coverage) :Peoria, IllinoisBostonRaleigh, north CarolinaWashingtonI don't know why these place have such a great coverage (100'000 - 300'000 buildings) when the rest of North America is nearly empty, it must be some governmental data was injected into osm for these towns, maybe on request by some citizens. In France we have the "cadastre", governmental data of every building , so the coverage is incredible. With a photoreal scenery, you have something like in this video (watch HD to see buildings) :

You can download french photoreal scenery here btw : http://zonephoto.x-p...france16_FR.php (Stay away from Paris, there are too much buildings in osm, it's not the perfect place to give it a try. The video i linked is on tile 43/3).So osm2xp needs a bit of work to have fun with it, just like xplane in general :)

Thanks .... I was trying to use osm2xp in with my XP9 ....I do have Java64 .. but get still get the message. Its looking for java in the same path where the osm2xp is located!

Hello Benny,I have added my house and driveway to OSM, and have exported a very small area surrounding my house. I have used Osm2xp, and it generates the scenery folder just fine. I then place the folder in Custom Scenery and continue to get errors when Xplane 10 loads.*** There is a lot of these:ATC audio initialized.Loading airplane number 0 with Aircraft/General Aviation/Cessna 172SP/Cessna_172SP.acf.Starting scenery shift at 0DSF rotate time: 1 for 0 DSFs.Failed to find resource 'lib/g10/decals/maquify_1_green_key.dcl' (parent = 'Resources/default scenery/1000 world terrain/terrain10/' at 'Resources/default scenery/1000 world terrain/terrain10/lib/g10/decals/maquify_1_green_key.dcl'Failed to find resource 'lib/g10/decals/maquify_1_green_key.dcl' (parent = 'Resources/default scenery/1000 world terrain/terrain10/' at 'Resources/default scenery/1000 world terrain/terrain10/lib/g10/decals/maquify_1_green_key.dcl'Failed to find resource 'lib/g10/decals/long_grass_and_gravel_1.dcl' (parent = 'Resources/default scenery/1000 world terrain/terrain10/' at 'Resources/default scenery/1000 world terrain/terrain10/lib/g10/decals/long_grass_and_gravel_1.dcl'Failed to find resource 'lib/g10/decals/low_freq_mod_1.dcl' (parent = 'Resources/default scenery/1000 world terrain/terrain10/' at 'Resources/default scenery/1000 world terrain/terrain10/lib/g10/decals/low_freq_mod_1.dcl'Failed to find resource 'lib/g10/decals/long_grass_and_gravel_1.dcl' (parent = 'Resources/default scenery/1000 world terrain/terrain10/' at 'Resources/default scenery/1000 world terrain/terrain10/lib/g10/decals/long_grass_and_gravel_1.dcl'*** And these:Error loading the scenery package:Custom Scenery/1 My House/The scenery may not look correct. Please see the log.txt file for detailed error information.(io_dsf.cpp:736)Custom Scenery/1 My House/Earth nav data/+40-080/+45-080.dsf:Unable to locate object: opensceneryx/objects/buildings/industrial/wind_turbines/large.objFailed to find resource 'opensceneryx/objects/buildings/marine/lighthouses/1.obj' at 'Custom Scenery/1 My House/opensceneryx/objects/buildings/marine/lighthouses/1.obj'Custom Scenery/1 My House/Earth nav data/+40-080/+45-080.dsf:Unable to locate object: opensceneryx/objects/buildings/marine/lighthouses/1.objFailed to find resource 'opensceneryx/objects/buildings/industrial/water_towers/cylindrical/1.obj' at 'Custom Scenery/1 My House/opensceneryx/objects/buildings/industrial/water_towers/cylindrical/1.obj'Custom Scenery/1 My House/Earth nav data/+40-080/+45-080.dsf:Unable to locate object: opensceneryx/objects/buildings/industrial/water_towers/cylindrical/1.objFailed to find resource 'opensceneryx/objects/buildings/industrial/water_towers/cylindrical/2.obj' at 'Custom Scenery/1 My House/opensceneryx/objects/buildings/industrial/water_towers/cylindrical/2.obj'Custom Scenery/1 My House/Earth nav data/+40-080/+45-080.dsf:Unable to locate object: opensceneryx/objects/buildings/industrial/water_towers/cylindrical/2.objFailed to find resource 'opensceneryx/objects/buildings/industrial/cranes/1.obj' at 'Custom Scenery/1 My House/opensceneryx/objects/buildings/industrial/cranes/1.obj'Custom Scenery/1 My House/Earth nav data/+40-080/+45-080.dsf:Unable to locate object: opensceneryx/objects/buildings/industrial/cranes/1.objFailed to find resource 'opensceneryx/forests/trees/europe/continental/mixed.for' at 'Custom Scenery/1 My House/opensceneryx/forests/trees/europe/continental/mixed.for'Could not locate facade/forest/beachopensceneryx/forests/trees/europe/continental/mixed.for(io_dsf.cpp:796)*** This is from my Log.txt.
