Track IR

Recommended Posts

Hi folks, after purchasing the Turbine Duke, I think I have to get something like Track IR to enjoy their VC fully. But I actually don´t have the money to get Track IR, so is there any similar thing for less money?

If you have a webcam try facetrackNOIRIt's free. It's not perfect by any means but version 5 is due out anytime now which is supposed to be better in fsx

Well, I don´t have a webcam, but if this is the limiting factor, no problem, I get out and get one. Do I have to watch out for a special feature the webcam should have?Or in general: Does it makes sense to get it if I have to get a webcam and it´s not that good than Track IR or should I just save my money and get Track IR?

I'm using a ps3 eye. It cost 39 bucks but I already had one!I have never tried trackIR so I can't compare the two.I think trackIR is around $200?As I said, facetrack is not perfect but is improving with each release.Maintaining a set position is the problem for me at the moment..... The tracking is too sensitive. Apparently the upcoming version 5 will help this with new filters.

Hello, I have both Trackir and I've started to experiment with Facetracknoir. I bought a Logitech C310 HD webcam for $30.While I think Facetracknoir has potential, as Gjharral said as of right now it's not stable enough. There's too much movement of the camera even when your head is facing forward and still. That being said, I haven't had a chance to play with the settings too much to see if that can be fixed. It certainly is an inexpensive alternative to Trackir when it is perfected.

After checking all out I´ll maybe get TrackIR. It seems to be more stable and better developed. But which version should I take? I´ve seen that there are several versions and packages, which one would fit best?

If you Can get TIR4 for cheap, get that. And use TIR5 software. As I see it, very little difference between the two, you'd have to be a picky TIR4 owner to switch to TIR5 (hope I haven't offended anyone, it's ok to be picky ;-) )Bjorn

Well, my primary source for buying such thins is amazon cause there isn´t any good shop for such things in my area. They show me Track IR 5 with vector clip for 169€ or 234$ and the Track IR 4 PRO for about 139€ or 198$. Is this ceap? Would it make more sense to get version 5 instead, since there is only a little difference?

If you´re on a tight budget I´d get the TIR4. You´ll get one heck of a good piece of equipment, probably too good, I think a lot of people are just sticking with that one. I´ve had mine for years. Works for so many other sims too. Try e-bay!If you should decide to go with the noIRheadtrack thingy, try to get a cam with fire-wire plug, think that would reduce the response time. But no clue what they cost...Bjorn

Update: That´s not fair! I found out that NaturalPoint doesn´t ship to Europe but there is a distributor for Germany, so everything ok till here. When it comes to a comparison between the prices, it´s not fair. You lucky guys in the US have to pay only 169$ which makes in euro about 120€, I can get it for about 208$ or 150€. But I will get it but I´ll have to wait till I have the money.
