ATI card cloud issue (solved for me)

Recommended Posts

Hi, first of all sorry for my english; I know many of us had or have low fps problems flying in clouds on ATI card based system, even with Bojote's shader 3.0 mod.I had those problems too, but yesterday, I founded a drivers setup that really seems to be the final solution. Some specs of my system: I7 860@3.53 GHz on ASUS P7P55D, 4 GB DDR3 1600 MHz, ATI Radeon 5770 HD and FSX on a WD500 GB 7200 rpm, Windows 7 64 bit on another disk (Samsung 160 GB).I'm using ATI TRAY TOOLS ver. 1.7.9.1516 instead of Catalyst control Center, on AMD drivers 11.5FSX is running in expanded window on the first monitor (1680 * 1050) and some add-on like FMC, Fuel planners, Skype ecc. on a second screen (1280 * 1024)All the detail sliders in FSX are at the maximum level (full to the right) except water (low 2X), traffic set to low value (I use to fly online) and clouds (90 NM max coverage and detailed). No bloom nor DX10 preview. No object shadows on ground nor aircraft shadows on itself. Now take a look to my FSX graphic main page and ATI drivers setup.http://imageshack.us...fsx640x476.jpg/http://imageshack.us...ura640x376.jpg/http://imageshack.us...ra1640x377.jpg/http://imageshack.us...ra2422x480.jpg/With this setup, now I have not less than 30 fps on IFLY 737 NG in VC during strong thunderstorm, snow, fog, and a lot of clouds, where before I lost 12 fps minimum.Let me know if it works also for you. Mauro

Mauro, what is that piece of software you are using, Gestione Profili Giochi? Apart from the FSX screen setting up your display, nothing else is recognisable, which begs the question are you trying to help others achieve the same iFly VC FPS you now claim to get now ,or are you showing us some software which most people outside Italy will never have heard of?

Is Ati Tray Tools http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=733 , I told this in the previous post. I'm using it to manage AMD/ATI drivers instead of Catalyst Control Center. When downloading the drivers from AMD website, you can choose the complete pack, with the CCC, or simply the drivers. I always choose drivers only and than manage them with Aty Tray Tools.Maybe you can have same results with CCC setup, but I can not help you to choose the right settings.Apart from some Italian headers in ATI Tray Tools, you should be able to do do same settings in the English version, many of mine are in english too.Sorry if I was not clear enough in the previous post, I was thinking that most of the people using ATI cards knew Ati Tray Tools.
