Serious stutter during landing

Recommended Posts

I am very pleased with the NGX so far. It has great performance, no crashes/ CTDs and all the system work as it should (to my knowledge). But there is one problem though that I cant understand. During landing, right before coming down on the runway, the whole sim freezes for about half a second or a bit more, and then resumes without any further problems. This problem is first and foremost aesthetically displeasing as it takes away the pleasure of a smooth and perfect landing.Secondly it is practically very dangerous as it seems to activate, immediately after the freeze, all of the control movements you added during the freeze, resulting in loss of control. Why does it freeze/stutter like that? It seems like something (NGX? FSX?) is loading something to prepare for something during a landing scenario. Maybe there are some special sound files being loaded. Maybe NGX loads some special ground mode files to handle ground operation (like break temperature, wheel steering...) If this is a NGX problem then I hope it will be recognized as a problem and then taken care off. Robert

I think this is fairly normal with most payware aircrafts if your system is running out of resources. As you come into land the simulator tends to load all the extra scenery\etc so the system struggles to keep up. Chris

http://forum.avsim.n...freeze-problem/ or do a Panel Freeze search. many, many subjects.
This isn't a panel freeze. This is a whole system freeze. One more snide remark from you and I'm reporting you to David

Maybe, but Randy's comment above was appropriate and respectful. Presuming that someone is snide solely on the basis of their prior behavior is not fair at all.Trevor

Hi Robert, I had this problem too. With payware airports and default airports. After I had disabled the HUD feature, the problem was gone. I'm looking forward to the first SP and check it again. Regards, Torsten

Ahh thanks!!!I guess I can live without the HUD until SP1. But is it officially recognized as a problem? Robert

Hello, does it happen every time you land?It could be possible if you have the autosave feature activated in FSUIPC (if you have). I have seen that when the flight is saved the system freeze for a very brief moment. For this reason you can de-activate that feature or increase the amount of seconds (minutes) between every save.Anyway, when you are approching to land, system asks for a lot of resources due to the scenery's loading.Bye.

Hi Robert, No, I didn't open a ticket yet due to lack of time to write down all the details for the support.I also had the autosave feature activated but for me it didn't helped to deactivate this feature. For me the whole approach was a low FPS show and I couldn't control the plane and very often the whole FSX was freezed and returned for some frames, just to fall back to a freeze. This looped until the plane crashed on the runway. Regards,Torsten
