lousy performance and sunset / sunrise

Recommended Posts

This is weird but yet totally reproduceable ..if I select time and date and use sunset (dusk) time from the fsx menu, the NGX performance is lousy, running about only 14 to 18 fps and choppy with a variability of like 30%....yet if I move the time to day (midday or so) it is way up to my normal unlocked framerate (no limiter) of 30ish or so... at a place like KISM, with no ai traffic on, sliders on VD and V... by default of FSX original .cfg... anyone else here..? Vista 64 / GTX280M i7 950 /EZDOK

FSX performance is generally worse at dawn/dusk, because the sim is loading more textures. Couple that with the demanding NGX and there might be a drop in framerate. There is an option to disable texture blending during dawn/dusk, but I can't remember where exactly. You could try that one.

Try dawn dusk smoothing in the fsx cfg. I have it set to =1
