AP2 only working

Recommended Posts

I had a strange thing happen today. I could only fly with AP2 as AP1 flashed but refused to take control? Is this a bug, or is there something I did to prevent it. BTW I was flying from the Captains side.

You probably broke the FCC by applying too much control force (110lb equivalent) to the yoke. This should appear under active failures. It's one of those that you can trigger anytime however, just like brake failure and the like...sig.gif

Did you check for failures in the CDU?
Yes, none found.

You may be right but I didn't realise that failures are sporadic, just when you program them to happen?

If you have service based failures active they are sporadic.

Ok, then it's probably one of those harder-to-find nasty annoying bugs. I've had the same before, just once or twice, but I do remember 100%. And I also did check failures back then.As I said, just for the sake of getting to know the system try to break the FCC once by pulling hard on the yoke during AP operation. You will hear the AP disengage as you broke shear rivets that will be inop for the remainder of the flight. Certainly a good-to-know item as with your joystick you'll probably need way less than 110lb of force to break the FCC...sig.gif
