Hi allThank to AVSIM for offering FlyLegacy a new Forum of its own.As you know, FlyLegacy was founded by Chris Wallace around 2005.  Laurent Claudet joined  him shortly after.  I joined theteam around 2007. Some other peoples contributed briefly and quit.  Chris faded away around 2008, probably under famillyand business presure. Thus Laurent and myself are the only one supporting this sim.  A third ROTW member Didier Rigault is hard working toprovide tools like Volnav, and a wonderfull airport editor. We have now reached a good beta level and a version is available on our site at ROTW.  There are still some problems tofix, but it's on the way.FlyLegacy is totally compatible with data from FlyII but now uses SQL database for better centralization and maintenanceI would like to take this opportunity to call uppon former scenery developpers that happen to take a look here.  I amseeking their permission to incorporate their work on the world database of FlyLegacy. And if anyone want to join the team, welcome to him/her.  We certainly need it.CheerJean

REI forgot to mention Frank DHONT that patiently tests everything that we produce. As a real pilot he provides us with many usefull feedbacks and corrections on the flight model.Thank you Frank

Thanks Jean,My contribution (mainly fine tuning the parameters) is only a small part of the total development work.Participating in the development team is a very interesting period.I gain more and more appreciation for the huge amount of developmentwork (mathematics, C++ coding, ...) required to achieve the level of detail behind the Fly! Legacy systems.Without the huge contribution of Jean, Laurent, Chris, ...  I did not even have parameters to fine tune.I perceive the contribution towards the development of the Fly! Legacy as a small return to Richard Harvey who inspired us so much.

Yikes!  I look forward to seeing the legacy of Fly! and Fly! II's return.  I really enjoyed the sims as everything appeared so realistic and I thought the developers, led by Richard Harvey, were way ahead of everyone else in the crowded flight sim world.  As I recall, it was the sim I flew during the days of FS98 and FS2K and it got me really excited with flight simulation. I thought the scenery, textures, and aircraft were way better than anything Microsoft had at the time.  I know I have the old software tucked away in my huge flight sim box upstairs.  I'm going to have to pull it out and review the manuals and stuff to refresh my memory.  This is great! Thanks too to Tom for giving FlyLegacy a forum of their own here at AVSIM.Best of luck and success to the team!Best regards,Jim Young

I also fondly remember the Fly! period, with really accurate scenery for the Toronto area where I lived, and "build it yourself" photoscenery for Florida where I most enjoyed flying... Wow, those were exciting times! And the occasional  dreaded "4 fps" event,  when scenery overwhelmed the video card.I look forward to taking FlyLegacy for a spin!BTW, I just found my original Fly! User Manual and Quick Reference Card..is there anything of interest in that document, dating back to 1999?

Re-reading the Fly! User Manual, I am again impressed by how much information thereis in this manual, both about the actual sim, but more importantly about the aircraft andflying techniques!  Outstanding document!

Hello again old friends,It's quite a coincidence that I happen to check into AVSIM after....way too long to remember...only to find a new Fly! Legacy forum up and running.  Thanks to Tom and the gang at AVSIM for their continued dedication to this sim and its community. It's so gratifiying to see that Laurent and Jean are continuing to "bear the torch" and prevent this project from disappearing into oblivion.  The real-life demands of a busy career and a young family have set other priorities in my life over the past few years, but maybe I will be able to rejoin the development team someday soon and contribute something back into the sim.  My oldest daughter, now 9, was born on almost the same day that Rich announced that his cancer's remission had ended, for the final time as it turned out.  But as we're now living temporarily in Sweden (instead of Canada) and she has been seeing more of the world, she's also showing an interest in flight sims too...maybe things are coming around full circle and she'll soon be able to get started on some programming!I'll try to drop in to the forum when I can, and keep a closer eye on what's going on in this great group of people.BTW, the "Legacy" in Fly! Legacy was never meant to refer to any piece of software produced by TRI, or by any of my meagre follow-on efforts.  It was always meant to refer to the community of people that were brought together here by the personal involvement and dedication of Rich Harvey....just something to keep in mind.Cheers,  Chris

G'day Chris,  Where have the years gone?.  I trust lifes been good to you over the years.  Is it that long ago we were communicating and you programmed a 3dS to S3d converter  for TrueSpace?.     Richard Harvey was not just an extemely talented programmer but was gifted with the art of communicating with the flightsim hobbyists and passing on his passion to others bringing them together as a community.  It's good to see the community carrying on his ideals.  I know modesty curbs your post but your contribution to the Fly! community has been outstanding and cannot go unrecognised.  I owe you such a debt of gratitude for making it possible for me to enjoy the hobby I love so much.  Thank you.   I'm sure we all look forward to hearing from you in the future.
