Well, the AVSIM forum "similar topic" function found two threads with no replies on the subject matter I'm about to ask.Doesn't leave much hope for me getting an answer either. Perhaps the yes/no approach when constructing the question will make it easier to answer, so I'll try my best:Reading the FMS manual on page FMS.10.18 Section 5, I'm making the following assumption about the TEMP/WIND Data entry:1. The FMC will only accept HEAD or TAIL component of the actual wind at a given flightlevel?2. if so, using trig, one could get the H or T by figuring out the offset e.g.: Wind = 200/60KT and Track = 180, gives me 200-180 = 20.Calculated Headwind component is: cos(20)x60=56.4, and enter (whatever temp)/H056 at LSK L6?Is this correct?RegardsMorten

You can insert cruise winds (which is better than just a wind component).Go to the F-PLN page and press the right line-select key for a cruise waypoint. This will take you to the VERT REF page. Go to page 2/2 and insert the altitude and wind speed and you now have a better flight path and more accurate fuel predictions.
