Completely Frazzled with Simconnect and Active Sky Network

Recommended Posts

Simconnect installed on server apparently correctly as it passes the FSX-SDK connection test. The single client (both server & client Window 7). appears to be the problem - I installed Simconnect.cfg in MyDocuments folder and ran the Windows .msi installer. When starting AS2012 the error states - "Simconnect Client SP2 Not Found and "You must have FSX SP1 or SP2 SimConnect Client. I was able to locate FSX SDK SP1A thanks to an Avsim forum post and not fsinsider.com. The SP1A update also fails stating the original release of SDK is required which I have done. I don't know which version is included on Disc 1 in the FSX Gold.

The Deluxe version of FSX comes with FSX Gold so install the SDK then go and install SP1A. Here's a link on how to install the SDK - http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?200041-How-to-Install-SDK-for-FSX-Gold.

Best regards,

Jim

FSX Gold edition Disc 1 contains SP1 SDK. Acceleration contains SP1A SDK. You MUST install SP1 before SP1A will install. Beyond that, the AS installation instruction outlines the procedure about as well as can be and far better than I could explain. It also has a good trouble shooting guide. Ive used it numerous times for programs other than ASE and AS2012.

I currently use ESP SDK for everything. Not that it has any bearing on this situation, they have combined everything and made backwards compatible..

Guys,

You must install the 3 SDKs on the server (SP1, SP1A, and SP2) one at a time and then run the Simconnect.msi from each of those SDKs one at a time.

Now set up the network, then run the Traffic utility ON THE CLIENT with FSX running on the server. What happens? If the Traffic utility stays running and starts to show the AI Traffic, then you have things set up correctly and can run AS on the client.

Thanks Jim, I omitted SP2. Its all there. Generally what happens is folks dont get the Sp2 SDK installed so their using the simconnect.msi for SP1. It was a confusing mess one upon a time. With ASE, their was an option to use SP1A I believe? Not to confuse things.
