B200 Dual Rxp GNS 530 & Rxp Wx500 retrofit

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,

on my now mid-range PC the Avidyne Unit is the most power hungry and FPS killing gauge in the B200 and also was in the C90B before. If I

completely powered it off in the vc and 2D gauge then I have a very fluid and pleasing experience, back at "full FPS" in my case, so I

decided to cut it out and replace it with the RXP Wx500 device, which gives still a realistic look and feel to the panel .... and besides

of the Avidyne own Wx-radar , it shows allways the weather in my case.

Carenado, I really like your Avidyne Unit, but for me it is a fun killer to see frames be cut by 10 FPS when using it!

This is just an idea how to get some of the performance back if you can live without that unit.

Here are some screenshots (note: when taking these screenshots I had nearly clear sky, so no weather to display on the radar ^_^ ) :

wx500-1.jpg

wx500-2.jpg

Known Issue:

==========

I had to use the noframe=on option for the WX500 gauge to have it nicely fitting into the vc and without greying out. That means the 2D popup has also no frame

where you could see the knobs and buttons. BUT when hovering the mouse over the black 2D gauge frame green sections will illuminate to help

you to find the right knobs to turn on and buttons to change range etc.... !

If anybody has a better solution for this Workarround please throw in a comment!!!

Below are the needed config entries, please allways BACKUP original files!

To have the two RXP Gns 530 units working correct together and to use these exact entries you need the RXP Unlimited pack!

Have fun and use at your own risk!

I did also a similar retrofit for the C90B, so if you like it I can post it on the corresponding forum section!

Andy, please post the similar retrofit for the C90B. Really like your cure for a large FPS problem.

Thanks,

Russ

Will do soon Russ!

But I must say that the performance gain is also connected to have TWO Rxp GNS Units as these Rxp units eat much less of performance as the Carenado/FSX native do!

I personally run all my RXP units on the first core of my quad CPU (RXPGNS.ini -> CPU=1) and let FSX run only on Core 2,3,4 (affinitymask=14) .... so a lot of stutters are reduced or even gone!

Works for some years like a dream! So having the RXP unlimited pack still makes lot of sense allthough the Rxp GNS works now with RXP Version 1.6 good together with the FSX-native GPS!

I always also get rid of the carenado GPS as soon as possible even though I dont use RXp, I found another GPS to be better coded, (read working better) together with the captain sim weather gauge. Simmilar results as above, even though I must admit it take a bit longer to get setup then the RXp units, but once done it is done.

Any mind giving me a hand? Copied the panel.cfg file from above and got this result.

Hi,

are you sure you also have this section?

==========================================================================================================

RXPWX500.INI (create with notepad and copy into it, place into the main B200 folder)

==========================================================================================================

[sETTINGS]

Wx500Popup=MAIN_PANEL

noframe=On

==========================================================================================================

But basically it seems you did NOT run the RXP conversion exe-file provided by Carenado in order to have the RXP-model-VC-layout for the B200. It is found inside the B200 mainfolder. You can see that by having no XP signs in the upper right corner of the left RXP unit (look at my pictures above).

Just run the RXP-Conversion-file from Carenado first, then exchange my Panel.cfg (backup!). And do not forget my RXPWX500.ini entries.

The RXPGNS.ini can be chosen from another working dual 530 GNS configuration you allready use, but you need to exchange/add the popup=10000 and LinkGPS=On in both GNS sections of it!

I think that is the problem, but if not then maybe a fresh reinstall of the Wx500 is also worth a try!

Since I have the same issue (I ran the RXP530.exe just after the install of the B200), I'd like to know if you were able to get it going.

That is really weired,

I am using at the moment the EXACT lines as I provided above, having no issues ... from vanilla release till SP2.

And as far I can see from the support page of RealityXP I have the latest Wx500 version for FSX installed:

Reality XP Wx500 for FSX ver. 6.3.1.0 Sunday, 25. July 2010 23:17

Does everybody have this problem, who tried to apply this retrofit?

Can I have some feedback of working integrations if there are any? .... as I really don´t know where the problem might be. :blink:

meanwhile try out to exchange this section with the panel.cfg entries provided above:

Realy trying to help! :help:

Hi! I appreciate your effort! It's really weird, on my old machine (2 weeks ago), it worked like a charm.

But no matter what I try, on my new Win 7 based rig, the frame will always show up...

I don´t know if it matters but

1,) I allways use the DX9 version of FSX, are you using DX10 Preview? Maybe it has something to do with that

2.) or do you have installed FSX to its native folder under programs(x86) or to a custom folder? Maybe it has to do with some administration rights for executing the RXP gauge?!

... just some ideas! :search:
