New NGX Video 1h Traffic Pattern St. Maarten by Skysurfer007

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Christmas time... NGX production time ;) Last winter I had the chance to fly in Canada, or better from Canada. St. Maarten was one of our main destinations.

So what - there is a cool FSX scenery available, and of yourse St. Maarten - I had to produce a video!

Enjoy!

Hi Berni,

Been following your videos for some time.

They are excellent!

I'd go as far to say that they have helped get more out of the NGX than anything else I watched tutorial wise.

Well done mate.. Looking forward to more in the future.

Also hope you enjoy your new monitor ;)

Cheers

Phil

Berni,

Thanks a lot for all your videos. Definitely one of the best places to learn real world ops ngx procedures. You're getting very good at producing them. Let me know if you ever fly to Zurich. Gladly invite you for a beer on behalf of all fellow simmers!

Best

Karim

Great video Berni, I have now subscribed to your YouTube channel.

Something interesting to watch when I can't go flying, like today :(

What program do you use to record your videos, the quality is very good.

Hi Berni,

Quick question about your second approach. When you visually aquire the PAPI, you said something about IAN and PAPI. Something like "IAN says I'm on glide but PAPI says I'm too high. This is what I was talking about." What exactly were you talking about? Admittedly, I didn't watch the entire video and am just wondering if there are issues with the IAN and PAPI not coinciding.

Anyway, GREAT video. I did watch the entire preflight --> takeoff and then your second approach. I just didn't have time to watch the entire video.

Thanks!

Hey Adam,

Boeing published following Bulletin

..."Background Information

An operator has reported occurrences of a nuisance GLIDESLOPE advisory at low

height above the runway, when using IAN capability on approach. Boeing has

analyzed these events and has concluded these unwanted advisories typically occur

when the barometric altimeter setting varies from the actual station pressure as the

result of the use of a stale altimeter setting, as a result of rapidly varying barometric

pressure changes which lead to an outdated altimeter setting, or as a result of unusual

temperature changes. A change in barometric pressure or temperature can cause the

VNAV path to be slightly different than the Visual Glide Slope Indicator, i. e., PAPI

or VASI, path or Instrument Landing System (ILS) glideslope.

When these situations occur and the crew elects to modify the flight path below the

VNAV path in order to follow the Visual Glide Slope Indicator (VGSI) or ILS

guidance, the IAN glideslope protection feature can issue a GLIDESLOPE advisory

even though the aircraft may be on a safe and appropriate flight path in visual

conditions. This is because the barometric VNAV path defined by the IAN feature

does not necessarily exactly coincide with the VGSI path or ILS glideslope..."

Even with correct barometric setting it happens, just like you can see with the NGX, that during the very final approach IAN leads you too high.

Cheers,

Berni

Hi Berni, Great video. How do you get the PMDG checklists to display in the cockpit?

Good question, I was wondering the same thing.
