Moving Map

Recommended Posts

I just discovered this http://fswidgets.com...gmap_fs9_20.zip and I can't recommend it highly enough. I experienced no FPS hit, and the software seems to work flawlessly, in map mode at any rate (I tend to do VFR sight seeing, so I probably won't be using the chart capability; who knows though, this package may change my preferences).

I did have an initial problem which turned out to be a corrupted register following a previous re-install of FS9, but the solution was e-mailed to me less than 12 hours after I e-mailed the FSWidgets help desk. Brilliant!

I agree. This is a great utility and is available in a freeware version so there's nothing to lose by giving it a try...

I use it for most vfr flights, have it installed on my Sony Tablet, works perfectly. The freeware version is restricted to San Francisco area, where as the full version is global. It's not expensive and well worth the money, in my opinion.

The freeware version is GMap. It does access Google maps world wide so you can use it anywhere for free and has three different map modes. But you can also purchase a variety of real world aviation charts for it and they are very inexpensive. And it's a one click process to add them - couldn't be any simpler. It's a nice utility and although I would like it if the display could be added to the panel, it is still definitely worth having...

Cheers

Ian
