The plan is to have it P3D capable but this will not be possible with the initial release, I doubt that we stated it was included with the initial release, If it was mentioned, we apologize for the confusion.

We have not tested the Dash on the P3D platform as of yet, so i am unable to give you a firm answer regarding its compatibility.  At this moment we will not be able to support questions of this type until we begin testing it in P3D.  Of course one is always free to experiment, but as I mentioned MJC will not be able to offer support.

@Simeon,

I haven't been so excited for a plane release since the ngx. I wish you guys an outstanding commercial success for all the hard work and commitment to the hardcore flightsim community.

@the p3d specialists,

Would be great if a pro of importing fsx planes into p3d could try the compatibility.

Best

It works perfect for about 15 minutes, then the sound stops and eventually Prepar3d crashes.

Really? I done a 1hr 30 minute flight with no issues.

Are you running in Legacy mode? I wonder if thats the difference with the post above yours.

I'm going to buy it regardless. I still have fsx installed anyway.

Please let us know.  Unfortunately for me FSX is now gone from my system.

Thanks

To my knowledge I am not running in legacy mode, just normal P3D.

Great.  I have read somewhere that the Dash looks for fsx.exe, and Legacy Mode gives you that.

It seems to be mainly a sound issue on my machine. It could well be related to windows 8. It runs fine for 15 minutes and then the sound cuts out, the simulation continues to run properly. Even environmental sounds like AI traffic can still be heard but nothing from the Dash 8 anymore. Also after the sound goes it CTDs when I try to switch planes and I also can't exit P3D gracefully anymore.

I'm not using any sort of migration tool. Issues like this never happened to me with PMDG, Quality Wings, Airbus X extended. Maybe it's a problem with my sound setup or windows 8.

Just as a follow up, the sound bug seems to be occuring for others on FSX and windows 7 installations as well. I guess we will have to wait for a patch. But it does not seem to be an incompatibility issue with Prepar3d.

I used the Migration Tool and the Q400 is working perfectly in P3D.

Do you have the CTD when exiting P3D?  I bought this one late yesterday, installed it fine with the migration tool.  However, after loading it up and started the engines I ran out of time and had to quit; P3D then CTD.  I tried again with just loading the plane and exited, same result CTD on exit P3D.

No CTD but it is important to keep the migration tool running while using it in P3D. Start the migration tool and switch on virtual FSX, run P3D and select the Dash 8 Q400 and I get no CTDs.

Ok I will try again today and report back.  I always have the migration tool running, iow I did not bother to disable virtual FSX.

Thanks

As far I can tell it performs wonderfully in P3D, but I have not done a full flight yet.  I will follow the tutorial today.  The VC is top notch and it is a beauty.  The PMDG J41 is now gone from my HD!
