Managing different FSX Configurations with new Tool "FSXstarter"

Hi,

 

after evenings of programming I would like to announce my new project FSXstarter.

 

FSXstarter allows to define start options with an individual configuration profile of fsx.cfg and scenery.cfg. In addition it provides an RUN section to define an individual set of programs to start or file operations (copy, delete or rename). That should bring all capabilities to build up seperate configuration profiles for individual requirements.

 

Example: You want to fly with heavy metal in Germany *smile* and need only less settings of autogen, trees and a smaler LOD_RADIUS. And you would like to disable VFR scenerys and enable FTX Global for your IFR Flight. => That's possible with FSXstarter

 

The program reads in your individual configuration profile and make these changes automaticly whenever you start this profile. It is also possible to start with program parameters (for Desktop Links)...

 

Currently there are a lot BETA Testers but if someone "multi national" could join the BETA Team, please send me an email to capt_pero@web.de

Program will be released within the next days (depending on my free time)...

Very interesting Pero.  I occasionally use SimLaunch which does some of what you are working on.

 

The components for deactivation of scenery layers and adjustment of LOD may be very useful.

Yes it does. But (in my mind) you can't change fsx.cfg or scenery.cfg settings for a FSX profile. That will be possible with FSXstarter.

You can combine both by starting SimLaunch after FSXstarter automaticly (in RUN list of FSXstarter).

 

 

Isn't this very much like FTX Assist?

In my mind you can't set an individual set of running operations or changes to your scenery.cfg. Isn't the name "FSX Go"? I don't own it therefore I can't say... I just saw it on screenshots...

 

FSXstarter will be freeware. *smile*

I dicided to add "EASY FSX Config" to make profile configuration much easier.

It's possible to "click" all FSX settings and known TWEAKS (e.g. to select TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD > 1024). The manual way stays untouched.

In addition I added german language support... More are possible, if needed...

...no, these settings make no sense for a real FSX-Profile

 

But it's still BETA...

Hi all,

 

the final version is released now!

Sorry, but a english readme is still missing (I work on that)...

 

The program provides this features:

  • Managing up to 5 profiles
  • Easy configuration allows to "click" all config changes in FSX and additional Tweaks
  • individual configuration of fsx.cfg
  • individual configuration of scenery.cfg (different scenery configuration for each start)
  • individual configuration of profile start (incl. program start-parameters)
  • file operations (delete, copy or rename)
  • logbook which logs all changes
  • FSXstarter.exe can be startet with start parameters

I use Ideal Flight 10 all the time. Is there a way to use this program without having to start FSX with it?

Hello, there is a problem with accented characters (é, è, à ...) in the scenery file. I'm french and i use this accented characters. Is it possible that a file is reset to default scenery closing fsx. Sory for my poor english.

first of all - your english is good enough state your problem clear - to a german... ;O)

Yes v1.1 will fix this too. FSX uses for many different files, different File encodings. V1.1 opens all files with UTF8 - this should fix your problem.

 

Can you please send my your "problem-File". Just to ensure that it is UTF8 too.

Please use FSXstarter.exe > About to find out my mail adress...

 

Are you interested to translate all displayed texts in french? FSXstarter is capable for more languages as 2. I would send you an output with every Message and you could add the fresh version.

 

For example "Error: File not exists", "Fehler: Datei existiert nicht", "YOUR TRANSLATION".

 

Maybe you write an email in this case too...

Such as fsx.exe with [sections] in...

Hello,

sorry but I remove all the accents of my scenery file and I rename the directory with accents.

 

Are you interested to translate all displayed texts in french? -> Yes, I'd be happy to do so.
