How do I get those red things that say differential brakes, brakes, or parking brake is applied on my screen. I had it then I did some edits in my FSX cfg file and now it has disappeared. How do I get it back?

To turn off the red warning text messages, change any or all of these lines in FSX.cfg from True to False:

 

InfoBrakesEnable=False

InfoParkingBrakesEnable=False

InfoPauseEnable=False

InfoSlewEnable=False

InfoStallEnable=False

InfoOverspeedEnable=False

 

So...in your case change them to "True"

Even easier, in your [Main] section of your fsx.cfg where it says HideInfoText=0, just change the zero to one ->

HideInfoText=1

 

This will turn off all of them or if you want to keep some but not all then you can individualize which ones by doing what Capt Speirs said.

He actually had three posts with basically the same answers in each.

 

For the OP, make sure your not editing the fsx.cfg.txt file if you have one next to the proper file which is just fsx.cfg. Sometimes an fsx.cfg.txt file gets created if fsx crashes, but the txt file can be deleated since it doesnt do anything.

According to your FSX.CFG here you should see the red text info. Are you sure this is FSX.cfg and FSX.cfg.txt or FSX.txt?

Since you don't see any changes, I'd strongly recommend to check that Explorer shows the file extensions, so you can make sure that you really edit the correct file (I believe this has been suggested already)

Alternatively, make a back up of the active FSX.cfg (or the file you suppose is active) and remove it from the folder. On the next startup, FSX will build a new config file, with only default values, so you should have all the info text back then. If that worked, you can add all the tweaks to that file again, and you should be fine.

Didn't know that was actually possible, but that makes sense. However, the OP did clearly state he did changes to the FSX.cfg, which is most likely why everyone was referring to possible problems with editing the FSX.cfg
