Recommended Posts

OpusFSI Beta Version 4.48.1 is now available for download on our website.

Remember when installing the OpusFSI_v447_Beta.msi file you must uninstall your current version before installing the new version (do not delete your previous \OpusFSI installation folder). After installing please check all the settings in your Configure and Weather dialogues. You can download from http://www.opussoftware.co.uk/opusfsi/downloads.htm

A Rebuild Station Data option has been added to the FSISERVER Configure dialog. This option can be used to build system specific station (aerodrome) data, including all addon airports and airfields you may have installed. This data contains details of all simulator stations (aerodromes) along with all runway and communication frequencies.

P.S.

Rebuilding Station Data ...

The OpusFSI Stations data contains details of all simulator stations (aerodromes) along with all runway and communication frequencies. However, the standard data will not contain details of any addon airports and airfields you may have installed. To overcome this the 'Rebuild Station Data' option in the FSISERVER Configure dialog can be used to build system specific data, station data matching your current installed system.

Follow the steps below to build your user station data file(s).

1.

Download and save the latest MakeRwys.zip file from Pete Dowson's downloads webpage,

http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

2.

Extract the MakeRwys files using the Windows 'Extract All' file option.

3.

Copy the extracted MakeRwys.exe utility program into your simulator's installation folder.

4.

Navigate to your simulator's installation folder and run the MakeRwys.exe program.

N.B.

If you have any small runway addon airfields, airfields with runways less than 1500 feet (457 metres) long then you will have to run the program with the />n argument, where 'n' identifies the minimum runway length in feet. For example, MakeRwys.exe />820 specifies a minimum runway length of 820 feet or 250 metres.

The MakeRwys.exe program will create the required Runways.txt file ready for decoding.

5.

Run the OpusFSI FSISERVER program, you do not need to run the simulator.
Open the Configure dialog, select your simulator type and make sure you have identified the simulator's install folder correctly.

6.

Click on the Rebuild Station Data button in the FSISERVER Configure dialog.

If Opus cannot find the Runways.txt file an error message box will be displayed advising you to perform steps 1 to 4 above.

7.

The Rebuild Station Data dialog will now appear confirming your current selected simulator type along with the current total number of Stations (aerodromes) that are loaded.

When ready click on the Start button.

The Start and OK buttons will be disabled during the decoding. The decoding process will take some time due to the text decoding, station validation, and duplication checks. The current progress is indicated using a standard progress bar. The current number of Decoded Stations is also indicated within the dialog.

8.

When decoding is complete press the OK button to save the new station data into your OpusFSI_User_Stations_... data file. Separate files are used for each simulator type.

Shutdown the FSISERVER program.

The new decoded station data along with all runways and communication frequencies will be loaded next time you run the FSISERVER program.

OpusFSI Beta Version 4.48.7 is now available for download on our website.

After installing please check all the settings in your Configure and Weather dialogues. You can download from http://www.opussoftware.co.uk/opusfsi/downloads.htm

Corrected a problem with the turbulence and wind shear data injection in wind layers. The LWE injects the rounded up average of all OpusFSI turbulence levels covered by the altitude range of the wind layer.

The Spy messages have now been changed to give indication of both the DHM Turbulence (produced by the real time calculations of the LWE at high resolution) and the SIM Turbulence (indicating the injected rounded up average for the current wind layer's altitude range, this is at a much lower resolution).

N.B.

Users must have both the OpusFSI Include Wing Flex and the simulator's Turbulence and Thermal Effects options enabled in order to 'see' the simulator's aircraft turbulence effects. The amount of aircraft turbulence produced by the simulator is totally dependent on the ambient wind strength. So even the strongest turbulence produces only a very mild response if flying in a zephyr of an ambient wind.

Added an Export GRIB Data option to the Weather Downloads dialog. When enabled the world-wide GRIB data will be saved in a single 8.45Mb OpusGribExport.dat data file in the \OpusFSI\Weather folder. This file is intended for use by third-party flight planning packages. The supplied OpusFSI_Grib_Export.pdf document in the \OpusFSI\Weather folder provides details of the OpusGribExport.dat file format. This document can also be downloaded from our Downloads page via the hyperlink at the bottom-right of the page.

Added an Enable GRIB Download in Flight option to the Weather Downloads dialog. When enabled the world wide GRIB data will be downloaded during a weather update, either on the ground or in flight, whenever it is found to be either incomplete or invalid (e.g. is older than the specified GRIB Validity Period). When disabled, GRIB download and decoding will only take place when the aircraft is on the ground (e.g. either before flight or after landing).

The GRIB Validity Period in the Weather Downloads dialog can now range from 3 to 240 hours in increments of 3 hours. matching the GRIB forecast data temporal resolution. The GRIB cycle data hour offset is now displayed in the Spy window text, in the on-screen Upper Atmosphere report, and in the OpusWeatherReport.txt (GRIB) text report file.

The GRIB data export feature has been extended to include the exporting of both world-wide GRIB forecast data and the relevant world-wide METAR data.

The METAR reports are exported in the OpusMetarExport.txt text file in the \OpusFSI\Weather\ folder. The weather data export feature can be used in Live Weather, Historic Weather, and World Weather Theme modes.

A new Export World Weather option has been added to the main Weather dialog. This option can be used to enable weather data exporting and the generation of the OpusMetarExport.txt and OpusGribExport.dat files. This new option replaces the redundant 'Reuse GRIB Data' option which is now best served using the 'GRIB Validity Period' setting. The 'Export World Weather' option is disabled by default.

The Weather Downloads dialog has been reorganised and the redundant 'Export GRIB Data' option removed. This option being superseded by the new 'Export World Weather' option described above.

The 'Export World Weather' and 'World Weather Themes' options are not available in Demonstration Mode.

OpusFSI Beta Version 4.50.0 is now available for download on our website.

Remember when installing the OpusFSI_v450_Beta.msi file you must uninstall your current version before installing the new version (do not delete your previous \OpusFSI installation folder). After installing please check all the settings in your Configure and Weather dialogues. You can download from http://www.opussoftware.co.uk/opusfsi/downloads.htm

OpusFSI version 4.47.3 has now been invalidated and users must upgrade to the latest Release or Beta.

Added SIDs and STARs button options to the LWA Map Option dialogs. These options use the current Aerodrome in Centre ICAO code and display either the LWA SIDs or the LWA STARs dialog listing either the Standard Instrument Departures (SIDs) or Standard Terminal Arrival Routes (STARs) for the specified aerodrome.

These options are available on all the LWA Maps. However, only one SID dialog and one STAR dialog can be displayed at any one time. Hence, the user has the freedom to either use separate LWA Maps to examine the available SIDs and STARs, or examine the SIDs and STARs on the same LWA Map changing the specified aerodrome ICAO code as appropriate.

The Plot Route On Map option within the SID/STAR dialog will always centre the associated aerodrome on its LWA Map prior to plotting the selected SID or STAR route. Details of the selected SID or STAR route is displayed on the right-hand side of the SID/STAR dialog.

The text box immediately above the 'Plot Route On Map' button displays the sequence of SID or STAR fixes in a sequential format so that they can be easily copied (highlight + Ctrl C) and pasted (Ctrl V) into your flight plan.

The new LWA Maps plot all route lines in a dark magenta colour, all flight plan waypoints in magenta, the departure in green, the destination in red, all alternates in yellow, all SID fixes in green, and all STAR fixes in red. In other words,

Magenta = Route Lines and Flight Plan Waypoints,
Green = GO = Departure Point and SID Fixes,
Red = STOP = Destination and STAR Fixes.

These new SID/STAR plotting features are available on both the FSISERVER and all networked FSICLIENTs.

The OpusFSI_Grib_Export.pdf document has been renamed to OpusFSI_Weather_Export.pdf and now contains details of both the exported GRIB data and METAR text file formats.

The Flight Plan Options dialog now includes options to 'Save', 'Load', 'Export PLN Flight Plan', and 'Import PLN Flight Plan'.

The new 'Save' and 'Load' options can be used to save and load flight plans in a simple text form. All text flight plan files contain the cruise altitude and flight plan string on two separate lines. All text flight plan files are stored in the new \OpusFSI\Plans folder. The 'Import the Cruise Altitude' checkbox option is also used when loading flight plans from text files.

The new 'Export PLN Flight Plan' option will save the current processed flight plan into a standard user specified Microsoft FSX/P3D PLN file.

N.B.

The above changes affect both the server and client software so both must be upgraded to ensure full compatibility of the client systems.
