TapaTalk Back Online

Recommended Posts

Just a heads up Tom - was working fine on both devices for 3 and a half days solid - (loging into to forum as a registered user as I can see my user name etc). Last used about 10.30 last night, then 10 hours later - phut!  The usual please contact administrator etc.

What's strange is that I can see both devices trying to log in. If it is any help, it appears that once the guest restrictions kick in, it blocks a properly registered tapatalk login. Hope this helps as a pointer.

Yup .......... seen it now in Hanger Chat thanks and can sympathise and understand the fact that it creates problems overall under the current structure and makes sense to ditch it. Hopefully not forever because it is a great mobile user experience.

Any plans to include an effective mobile solution in your short term roadmap as you address the current website problems?

Beyond the AVSIM Mobile theme, not at the moment. I will be looking into alternatives, but at the moment, we have a set of higher priorities both with hardware and the basic OS.

Hi Tom

I can see the increased speed of AVSIM on my PC now that Tapatalk is gone, definitely a good thing for the overall community!

Not sure if it's possible, but if it is, would you please consider adding a "Topics I've participated in" section to the AVSIM mobile theme? This is a feature that I use quite a lot(I used the Tapatalk "Participated" section aswell), however it's a pain to use on my tablet, as I have to switch to the AVSIM normal theme, which doesn't work very well on my tablet. It's the only feature I really miss on the mobile theme.

Thanks

So now, after many months of perfectly functioning TapaTalk for iOS it is finally over.

It is a shame, sadly the mobile theme is a poor surrogate, especially for those of us following many forums.

I hope that you have a running evaluation regarding this Tom, I understand that the relatively small numbers using TapaTalk should not be allowed to slow everything down, if that's actually the case, but nevertheless a setback.

Cheers,

Very bottom of any AVSIM page, left hand corner. Click "change theme" select "AVSIM mobile".

Frankly, since the replacement of the dodgy hard drives in the RAID array, I had not seen any connectivity issues at all with Avsim - from the end-user perspective, over the past couple of weeks, it has seemed to load content just fine in both Tapatalk, and using the full web site on my desktop.

But, I know that as the system administrator, you can see potential adverse effects caused by the TT plugin that may not be apparent to end-users. It's unfortunate that the TT developers seem unresponsive to the concerns of forum operators.

Try the new AVSIM Mobile theme that you can select from the bottom of any page.

When you click on the Windows looking logo at the top right, you can click on new content and you will see all messages posted since your last visit.

Sadly it has to make due ;)

What I miss is: a post counter, useful to be able see how many posts are in a thread, a posibility to quickly move to the last page in a long thread, and a way to view pictures without having to save them to the device first.

But it works, so enough with the complaining :)
