Sapphire Hd7970 Crashes

Recommended Posts

I am having almost constant video crashes lately with Prepar3D 2.2 on Windows 8.1/64bit. At first I thought it might be EZCA related so I switched to OpusFSX cameras and still have video crashes. I'm using the latest AMD beta drivers for Win 8.1/64 but have been experimenting with older drivers with the same results. When I’m in the sim however it runs extremely well – it seems the crashes come from view changes. My specs are below. If I’m in the wrong place here I apologize in advance. Thanks.

I did not have crashes, but had terribly long lag when doing menu changes or view changes or task switching out of p3d. It would hang and say non responding program. I run a 7850 on win7. I used the p3d menu system the other day and I no longer have the lags or non responding program problem. I have no idea what this did, but it fixed the hung program. I suppose it is worth a shot for you to try it. You have nothing to lose.

Thanks stampee but these are real video crashes. Blank or colored screens and I can still hear the sim - computer needs to be shut down and restarted. I'm wondering if this is an AMD driver/Win 8.1 issue and if anyone has had this before with Prepar3D.

Hi,

which AMD driver are you using? I just installed the new 14.4 driver (have the HD7970 as well) and noticed crashes in some areas when changing views (birds eye view and then zooming out).

I am not sure yet if this is related to the new driver or to the ORBX AU scenery i just installed. Today i will rollback to 13.2 and check again.
