09JUN14 - PMDG 777 SP1 and 300ER updates

Recommended Posts

They have until tomorrow. The Sunday is a resting day. So they will not bother to post.

Seems there are a few hiccups.

All they said was they would provide a release timeline this week. It's nearing the end but they can post on the weekend as well!

They said "shortly" remember PMDG have a unique concept of time and the description of it.

But yay - at least soon is becoming sooner, which means the 747 is closer and we get a proper plane to fly and a fix for the other proper plane the NGX

Captains,

This is just a quick note that will be followed by more in-depth information in a short while:

We are currently working with a version of the SP1 that we are very happy with- and we have gone essentially code-freeze on the SP1 as of tonight.

We did introduce a few hiccups with tonight's build that we will be ironing out during the next couple of days- and we are planning to give our testing team a chance to really settle in with the SP1 and the 300ER to make sure we haven't left anything truly BAD in the build...

At some point during this week, we will give you a release timeline for both the SP1 and the 300ER...

Stay tuned for more information...

They also posted once when NGX was released, how now they have this new technique we can expect the 777 and 747 in quick succession.

That PMDG will never do a wx radar.

Didn't he run for office once? Damm politicians always say one thing and never deliver ;)

I used to get annoyed with the ###### quoting it be done when it's ready - but I generally now accept that because most of the factual updates are never right anyhow.

I'll probably miss the release as between avsim forums crashing, Kyle starting arguments, pmdgs silence or then giving us "Shortly" , "soon" updates the forums generally little value anymore.

The NGX forum used to be great place to learn new stuff, but feel those with knowledge (real knowledge rather than those who just read a manual) seem to have also left the forums.

I'm hoping this "timeline for release" is a matter of hours as opposed to weeks haha! If I remember correctly, the base T7 was released as a "surprise" despite PMDG stating "we won't surprise release.... promise ;D".

Either way, I can see if being a case of the "5 days after the last build" statement RSR released last month.

The end is in sight either way.

You are right, the end is in sight. And boy, with what livery will be my first flight.... hm let's see.

First KLM,

Then:

American Airlines,

Air New Zealand

British Airways

Turkish Airlines

Edit: Oh yes, forgot about Cathay Pacific and Emirates. Those too!

-----------------------

Those are THE liveries I have to fly some hauls with first!

I think we all need to chill here,

So what if they're a few days out/ weeks out on releasing their timeline? They're not going to pull the plug on the project, you'll get it at some point....

Just chill, relax, and enjoy the suspense!

I've been chilling and relaxing (and even flightsimming!!) for 9 months now and I assume, I'll keep on chilling and relaxing (and, maybe, really perhaps flightsimming ) juuust a little bit longer ...   :P

This is how they do it.  Few picture on Facebook of the new repaint and then come on here to give you a few updates to see what's going on, to make you think that the service pack is coming out soon.  In reality we don't really know when it is coming out.  Speaking for myself I only wanted a SP1, not waiting for god knows how many months. (By September that will be exactly 12 months).  I'm just hoping when it is released we don't come on here nick picking.

I seriously hope some of you guys appreciate the work that went into the fly-by-wire overhaul once you see it. This is probably one of the most complex things ever done in an FSX addon - we've got it matching our level D simulator experiment videos essentially exactly now. All of it is "simulated" too in the sense that what you see the airplane doing like chasing the trim reference speed, going into phugoid oscillations etc isn't coming from the base level FSX flight dynamics engine. There's a demand-based C* control law just like the real airplane has operating on top of the base FSX engine that left to itself would result in Airbus-style holding of pitch and bank at all times. This then has further processing on top of it to create the speed stability and phugoid tendency, all the compensation stuff, etc. (Boeing calls the complete system C*U - "see star you"). What you're feeling while handflying in SP1 is essentially our own custom flight dynamics engine riding on top of FSX now. This was not easy to do and we've gotten it as close as we think is possible in FSX. I think everyone will be very happy with it.

Awesome! A better fly by wire would be just amazing, I mean the one we got originally is pretty good and I thought it was just like that in real life as to not being close to the Airbus system by intentional design but I guess it gets better then, more assistance for manual control would be very cool.

It has always been a good and exciting sign to feel PMDG running silent below surface...

We got a single ping range and true bearing of target 5 days ago.

I guess they prepare now for surfacing!

Can somebody explain to me in simple terms how different the fly by wire behaviour will be between the 777 and an airbus, like the a320 x extended? What changes will be made with the sp1 to the system? I was guessing that it would be using more direct pitch correction and not rudder plus some aileron automation so that it will be much smoother to handfly, but now I don't know, will it be anything close to the airbus? Because right now I know its not close at all, when I fly the a320 I have to make so little corrections when turning, it is very stable, but I am guessing this will be very different since the boeing design is intended to make the pilot have to truly fly and manage the aircraft at all times.
