A2A Cherokee Landing Lights Enhancement

Recommended Posts

If you own the fx_shockwave lights (from A2A) this addition to the aircraft.cfg helps a lot on the A2A Cherokee in P3Dv2.2. This is the entire [lights] section but the LAST line is mine.

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit
//light.0 = 3,   0.21, -15.00, 0.55, fx_a2a_cherokee180_navred //Moved to the MDL
//light.1 = 3,   0.21,  15.00, 0.55, fx_a2a_cherokee180_navgre //Moved to the MDL
//light.2 = 3, -14.95,   0.00, 4.89, fx_a2a_cherokee180_navwhi //Moved to the MDL
//light.3 = 2,   0.00, -15.00, 0.55, fx_a2a_cherokee180_strobe //Moved to the MDL
//light.4 = 2,   0.00,  15.00, 0.55, fx_a2a_cherokee180_strobe //Moved to the MDL
//light.5 = 1, -13.37,   0.00, 5.29, fx_a2a_cherokee180_beacon //Moved to the MDL
light.0 = 9,   0.65,   0.00, 2.10, fx_a2a_cherokee180_vclight_red
light.1 = 10,  0.35,   0.00, 1.85, fx_a2a_cherokee180_vclight
light.2 = 5, 5.15, 0, -.6,  fx_shockwave_landing_light_short

I chose the 'short' light but there are others to choose from and play with.

Hope it helps a bit!

Thanks,

Greg does this get the Cherokee lights to illuminate the ground?

It does, in fact has allowed me to T/O and land on some short/dark runways in some MVFR conditions. Without the tweak I could not have seen the runway.

NOTE: made a change to the last line in the [lights] section of the aircraft.cfg file:

light.2 = 5, 5.30, -.5, -.6,  fx_shockwave_landing_light_short

New to P3D.  So the Shockwave lights work with P3D? I always wanted them on my UT2 traffic in FSX but they wouldnt work with DX10.

In case anyone is interested, all A2A products, including the Shockwave Lights are 25% off right now.

Yes, I have them installed on several aircraft and they work fine.

Hi Greg -

Will you please share your shockwave [lights] sections for the Prepar3d aircraft. I would like to add them to the default and can only find one or two mods to make them work.

thanks in advance  -

Daniel

Sure, I'm not at my P3D system right now, so give me some time and I'll post what I have.

Greg, do you have to have the Shockwave lights for this to work???

I don't have that but do have the A2A P180 and dang it's dark in front of that plane...    ;-)

Daniel, I actually only have a few planes setup with A2A's 3D lights as most of the default planes display pretty good landing lights already. I'd be happy to send along what few I have, like the C172 (from FSX), A321, B737-800 (both ported over from FSX). The Baron, Bonanza, Maule, etc do not need light improvements, IMO.

Pivot,

Yes, you need to purchase the A2A 3D lights package. They are bunch of files that will be deposited into the "effects" folder. I think it's a great little addon...and I can't fly that plane at night without the light mod!
