$1300 4790K Build...need Help With Some Parts Before Sale Ends Today

Recommended Posts

There is no "correctly"... ^_^

Just personal preference.

I have the OS on one SSD and FSX on another SSD..

If your SSD is big enough,  I would suggest starting with the OS and FSX on the same SSD.

The only advice, is to install FSX in a simple folder like C:\FSX and not into it's default location in the "Program Files" structure.

This is not a performance issue but rather a way around the restrictive Win7 User Account Controls..

Thanks. Would a 250gb SSD be large enough to set it up as you described? I keep reading about SLC, MLC, TLC. Any suggestions on that choice for a SSD?

I happen to believe in Samsung as a reliable supplier of SSDs...

Others may disagree, but a Samsung evo or Pro is hard to beat for price/performance/reliability.

250 GB is fine to start with.

My system is virtually the same as yours just with an extra SSD, I don't think you will be dissapointed. For example, in my testing, maxed out everything apart from 2/3 of the aircraft shadows options, no ai traffic and no ships, PMDG 777, UK2000 EGLL v3 (maxed out in config) and got between 25-30 FPS.

Yes using the GTX 770 2GB and at the moment only 1 x (Asus 1920x1080) display, though plan to add another 1 in the near future.

This is a little off topic... But can anyone tell me what programs i can expect to "have" to get based on my setup?

I will be running one main 40" tv as the screen, with a 19" monitor for guages (i am building a half cockpit around this). I will also have saitek gauges and controls. Eventually ai will wire up some switch panels using a USB card/interface to add into ky cockpit to do stuff like control lights, do engine start ups/shut downs. I would also like to fly online. It is my understanding i will need:

FSUIPC

SQUAWKBOX or FSINN

What else will i need for the display setup? What if I decide to put the second display on a 2nd networked computer?
