Okay, Ed. Sorry about that. I'm suppose to turn off the BBC code here by pushing the little button in the upper right hand corner of my post whenever I add an Internet link. I thought I had done that. In any case I edited my response.

The VAS usage is displayed in Kilobytes (KB’s). The value represents the amount of VAS left so, the lower the value, the more VAS being depleted. The max amount of VAS allowed in computers with 64 bit Operating Systems is 4GB’s. This is shared with other applications running in the background on your computer. For 32 bit Operating Systems, the max amount of VAS allowed for FSX/P3D is 2GB’s but this can be expanded to 3GB’s with a switch like the /3GB switch.

Hi Jim.

I am a bit late here but I just realized that I missed the part (sorry) where you were saying about a "Switch" which can be used to expand 2GB to 3GB VAS. Can you please clarify what switch is that? Where is it? In Windows somewhere? Is it available in W10 or W7 only?

Thank you again.

Hi Ed,

If you have a 64 bit operating system, your application (FSX/P3D) will use up to 4GB's of VAS.  If you have a 32 bit Windows Operating System, FSX can only use up to 2GB's of VAS but someone came up with a "switch" that could make FSX 'see' up to 3GB's of VAS.  It was called the /3GB switch or the UserVA switch.  This was years ago and most individuals have the 64 bit Windows operating system installed (if not, you should).  In any case, there is no switch on your computer.  You have to use the run command and tell the system to use up to 3GB's.  Here's one link that provides info on how to employ the switch in Windows 7 - http://scorpion.tordivel.no/help/GettingStarted/3gswitch.htm
