Update 1.3.0.2 Preview Released

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.

Just uploaded a preview of 1.3.0.2.  It includes the long awaited SID/STAR capability along with some other new features:

  • SID / STAR Support
  • Fly Full Route Feature
  • Updated Flight Plan Validation Logic
  • Fix to Voice Speed and Testing Buttons
  • Other minor fixes or enhancements

The User's guide and the Test Flight Tutorial have been updated to reflect the new features, so be sure to read through that before launching your first flight in the new world.

Please report any problems to me at admin@pilot2atc.com.

Enjoy

Dave

I haven't tried this program yet as I am in the process of re installing all of my flight sim software, but I really like the idea of a new ATC program being actively developed. The one thing that I don't like is the fact it requires an overlay all the time, and one has to control the frequencies through that instead of through the airplane. That is a deal breaker for me personally. Any chance of getting rid of that in the future and making it more like the other ATC programs out there?

Hi Mike,

In fact, you can change frequencies in the airplane in most cases.  As long as the airplane uses the standard Sim mechanism to manage the radios, Pilot2ATC picks up the changes and operates with them.

You do need to enter/load/import a flight plan if you are flying IFR and then file it.  After that, you can minimize the window and interact with ATC without seeing the program window.  There are a couple of users who told me they use it this way because they prefer to fly in full-screen mode.

One thing on the roadmap is to create a compact UI so just the essential features are available and take up less screen real estate.  That might also be an option for you once it's available.

Thanks for the feedback,

Dave

Dave,

I haven't had a chance yet to try the program but plan to do so in the near future. Can you confirm the program can be used in the the full screen mode? I have a 3-screen setup and prefer to use the VC as much as possible and minimize or eliminate any extra windows. Ideally, I would prefer to operate Pilot2ATC on a separate PC with WideFS but I know there are other issues.

I'm just looking for a little more clarification. Thanks.

Hi Les.

I have had several users tell me they use it in full screen mode, but without any of the visual features, most of the time.  That's why I added an optional audible tone for the PTT button.  My understanding is that they toggle to P2ATC when they want to adjust something, but most of  the time fly using only the voice ATC.

Radio channel changes, etc. are all done in the cockpit and P2ATC picks up on them and operates normally.

We'll be adding the WideFS PTT button support in the not too distant future, but it will still require a solution for sound from 2 PCs at once, either with one using the speakers and the other the headphone, or some sort of headphone splitter to both PCs.

If anyone out there is using P2ATC with full screen mode, please give us a PIREP.

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks Dave, this quite informative. By the way,  there's another ATC thread going on at the MS FSX forum that's now focusing on P2ATC; I'll will refer those guys over here.

Mhazy,

First, are you getting the 3 aqua lines of text when you first connect with the 3rd one saying Grammars Loaded?

Please send me a full screenshot with the radio panel and map showing.  Also, if any speech was recognized, send me the contents of the speech text window.  These might help me diagnose the problem.  admin@pilot2atc.com.

Thanks,

Dave

Parson,

Thanks!
