Have you set in your browser that library.avsim.net is a trusted site? Thousands of users download successfully daily from the AVSIM Library. I don't what else to suggest to you.

I'm using Firefox, and their "trusted site" function is different than Internet Explorer's.

 

As instructed by Firefox, I have accessed the "Permissions Manager". Although forums.avsim was not in the list of sites in the managers left pane, library.avsim was not. My understanding of the Permission Manager says this does not mean that it isn't trusted necessarily.

 

On the actual library.avsim webpage, where I select the file I wish to download, left clicking on the icon in the address bar brings up page information.

 

I get the same behaviour when I try to use Internet Explorer to download files from AVSIM. When I go to internet options, security, trusted sites, sites .... http://library.avsim.net is in the trusted  website list. Guess that's not the issue.

I think you may have a virus. I'd start here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/103/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do/  These people are geniuses and if you have an issue somewhere they WILL find it.

 

You may have good virus software and have excellent results when scanning but until you use their tools and follow their guidance you can never be sure you are clean.

I visited BleepingComputer looking for assistance as suggested. The only support received (so far) was to use an FTP client to access the avsim library server. Using their recommended application, I found I was unable to successfully login using my avsim library username and password. (530 Login incorrect).

 

Is access to the server by this means not an option using the same credentials as the library?

Access via an FTP client is not allowed. You must come into the library via our HTML interface.
