Hi Guys!!

My setup has two hard drives a 600Gb fast drive which has all my FSX and related add-ons on it and the main 1Tb drive which has the OS and my other non-FS programs on it.   Recently the large drive failed and I had to replace it.  After I thanked the Almighty that all my FS stuff was safe,  when i started up the computer most of my icons on the desktop were gone including that for FSX.

I tried to start FSX from inside the small drive by double clicking on the FSX application icon therein.  When I did this I received the following message:  "The MSXML4 SP2 component is not installed.  Please reinstall Flight Sim to restore or repair this missing component."  I'm happy to reinstall fsx, but I'm hoping I won't have to reload all my hundreds of add-ons.  If I insert disk one and follow the directions of the original FSX Gold edition, will it still recognize all the add ons already installed on the same drive?

Hope I'm asking this correctly and I appreciate your help in advance.  It wasn't 6 months ago when I had a corrupted operating system and lost everything - then I had to reload everything and it took me over 3 months to do so.  Would sure hate to have to do that again. . .

Thanks much!!

All your addons will have to be reinstalled except for some scenery addons. You might be able to move your old scenery.cfg over to the new installation. It might show some missing scenery (if you install the addon utility Scenery Config Editor) but those can be fixed by relinking. Not sure about any Orbx stuff. Pretty positive that has to all be reinstalled. Of course all FSDT, FlightBeam, BluePrint, TampaBay, etc., etc., airports will be to be reinstalled. All PMDG aircraft will have to be reinstalled and most commercial addon aircraft will have to be reinstalled too. Personally I think it is better to just start over. I know on my last reinstall, I was able to keep all of my photoscenery in the same folders and when I moved the scenery.cfg over, it saw everyone of them (I have over 48 photosceneries). There are required entries in the dll.xml and the exe.xml which might work in the new installation but I'm afraid required registry entries would still be needed.
