Just to be sure, is this the one you are missing?  What happened?  Did you delete it?

Does it affect anything?

I must of deleted when I was trying to add scenery last week. No luck in that either.

it was empty so it shouldn't affect anything.

Are you also missing the Addon Scenery folder in the Main FSX folder?  If so, you can

just create a folder called Addon Scenery with a sub-folder called scenery in

it and place in the Main FSX folder.

Given that it appears that you don't have any addon scenery I would go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX and delete the scenery.cfg and oldscenery.cfg.

Then restart the sim and it will build a new scenery.cfg.

Next question, why do you have all of those default scenery areas unchecked? Not a good idea.

Can I guess that you have Win Vista, 7, or 8 and you let the installer place FS in the Program Files folder?

Thanks, I had a feeling I had to do something with the scenery cfg.

This is just my laptop and I don't actually fly on it I just use it to test downloads. Does leave me to ask why I would need to have specific areas like Reno and Edwards checked if I wasn't flying there.

EDIT..well so much for that idea now it says... "Scenery config is missing or damaged reload disk"

which I no longer have !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had to restore the scenery cfg from the recycle bin.

If the Addon Scenery folder is present in the FSX folder, can you not simply add it in the Scenery Library panel?

Just use the "add area" function..

Maybe I misunderstand, but you say that the folder is present in the FSX directory.

All you are trying to do, is add the entry to the scenery.cfg file, right?

The "add area" dialog will do just that.

You can also edit your scenery.cfg file with Notepad..

It should look something like:

[Area.114]
Title=Propeller Objects
Local=Scenery\Props
Layer=114
Active=TRUE
Required=TRUE

[Area.115]
Title=Addon Scenery
Local=Addon Scenery
Layer=115
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE

[Area.116]
Title=Reno
Local=Scenery\Cities\Reno
Layer=116
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE

In your root FSX folder, the folder with FSX.exe in it, there should be a backup of the original scenery.cfg.

Try copying it to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX and overwrite the existing one.

Make sure you copy and not move it. You always want to have that original in your FSX folder.

Joe

That's exactly what it looks like but the Addon scenery folder does not show up in the scenery library (in game). And no....using the add area button in the library will not add the folder.

There is only the one copy of the scenery.cfg.

Does your Addon Scenery folder have a "Scenery folder" in it?

It needs to be there.
