Porpoising?

Recommended Posts

I decided to whip the 1900D out for another flight after watching a few videos on setting it up properly (my last few flights made me put it down for awhile). I finally made it to 21k feet on a smooth flight today when the plane started pitching up and down once it got to altitude and never settled down. Aside from the CABIN DIFF HI warning light, and now this, the B1900D is going back into the hangar as an unflyable model. Sigh.

I had the same experience, I turned the Avidyne multifunction system off. I think that did the trick........ might have been a conflict between it and the GNS530 and or the FMS.

hope this helps

Having the same problem when I hit 18,000 also start losing AP functions.  I have many Carendo models and all have been excellent, this is a bummer..into the hanger it goes.  Guess I'll fly the ATR instead.

Hi Gang:

I have the same issues. The only thing that worked for me was to not use the FMC. It's disappointing as I like to use it, but if I keep the FMC off, and only use the default GPS it cures all the porpoising and autopilot issues every time. It's a real shame, cause this plane really does fly nice otherwise.

Now if they could only cure the pressurization problem as well, this would be a first rate aircraft.

This seems to work:

Problem starts when level at FL 210, FMC and GPS both active.  Change the barometer setting from 29.92 to actual, for example, 30.02.  Aircraft stops porpoising.

You guys need to report this bug to the developer.

Same here but it seems related to the large pitch trim wheel, and it happens even at low level flying the trim wheel spins forward as far as it can go and the mouse scroll seems unable to turn it back. You can grab it with the hand and drag backwards to adjust it but as soon as you let the mouse button go the wheel spins back to full forward.

Reported it to Carenado waiting to see if he comes back with a fix. The latest update doesn't seem to help either.

That almost sounds like the autopilot is engaged and you're fighting it

Is there a solution for this annoying problem? I have right after the take off and it makes this bird pretty useless.

Or should I ask for the refund?

Obviously no one able to help and Carenado not willing to help (?). So no more B1900D-flights for me and one more ex-customer for them...

Sounds like the centre of gravity is too far back.

When it happens, move some weight forward (using the menu) until it stops.
