Mindstar GNS 530 in dedicated screen help

Recommended Posts

 this is in P3D 2.3

I seem to missing something.

I am doing this in the A2A Cessna.and P3D 2.3

I have the 530 in the dash of the plane in VC ,when I click the screen it becomes a window which I can dock but the screen disappears from the dash.

What I would like to do (have been doing this with RealityXP ).

Have the 530 screen showing in the VC dash but also pick from the Views section the Mindstar 530 GNS which I would drag(undock) to a dedicated GPS screen.

They would both be working at the same time.

In the Reality setup I also have it so the buttons are removed (resized screen) as the dedictaed screen has its own buttons.

this is from my Panel.CFG

[Window Titles]

Window15=GNS 530 WAAS
Window16=GNS 430 WAAS

[Window15]
window_pos=0.739583,0.000000
window_size=0.260417,0.333333

nomenu=1
zorder=99

gauge00=MPI_GNS!GNS530,0,0,100,100, 2:2:15531

gauge00=MPI_GNS!GNS430,0,0,100,100, 1:2:15431

[Vcockpit01]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=512,512
visible=1
pixel_size=640,640
texture=$gps

gauge00=MPI_GNS!GNS430, 0,0,456,189, 1:1:-1

[Vcockpit02]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=512,512
visible=1
pixel_size=640,640
texture=$gps1

gauge00=MPI_GNS!GNS530, 5,5,506,350, 2:1:-1

With RealityXP(FSX simulator) this is what would be added to the Panel.cfg  adjusting the window number to appropiate number

Window10=Reality XP GNS 530 WAAS

[Window10]
 Background_color=0,0,0
 size_mm=83,46
 position=7
 visible=1
 ident=15532
 window_size= 0.260, 0.300
 window_pos= 0.740, 0.000
 zorder=99
 gauge00=rxpGNS!GNS530,  -24,-6,129,71

Thank you so much for anyone that can help.

I am thinking posting here may help others with Mindstar setup

What you are asking for cannot be done to the best of my knowledge. The units are programmed to draw one screen at a time.

Thank you for the reply

That would be sad if you can not fly with both screens showing as it does with RealityXP.

There is only one screen rendering at a time because unlike the Reality-XP gauge that is using an external program (the Garmin trainer) to do 99.9% of it's work, rendering, functionality etc... our 430/530 runs inside the sim itself. Rendering multiple screens would be a significant performance hit.

Maybe this is crazy but here goes.

If you can run 430 and 530 both at the same time in the VC dash?

If that is possible then could it be set up to run the 430 in the VC dash and the 530 in the pop up screen that could be docked in the dedicated screen?

Sorry if I sound all mixed up on this.

Thank you

Ok... I don't know what you can put in the VC. I don't own the aircraft addon. Whatever you can put there, only someone who owns it can say. In the popup window you can place what you want.

However, I can assure you when you open that window and have two maps rendering at the same time... you will take a performance hit. You've been warned. It's all about the window and how it impacts sim performance.

There really is a reason we disable rendering the way we do.

Well there is some confusion on my part then.

Mindstar have just emailed me saying when the popup is opened that they intentionally stop drawing to the other instance.

But before buying I read in their info on the site regarding how to fit panels the following.

UNIT is the GPS unit number.  For example, if you are simulating an airplane that has both a 430 and a 530, one of those units is considered GPS #1, and the other is considered GPS #2. (and this also means the radios in GPS #1 are considered COM1 and NAV1, while the radios in GPS #2 are considered COM2 and NAV2).  You can only have up to 2 units.  This is because there is no COM3 in flight simulator, and having 3 GPS's in an airplane would be very unusual.

INSTANCE is a sequential instance number for a particular unit.  Since flight simulator allows you to display the same GNS unit in more than one window, each repetition of the same GNS unit must have its own unique, sequential INSTANCE number.   For example, GPS #1 may appear in the main 2D panel, and also in a popup panel, and also in the VC.   Each of those appearances (instances) must have its own unique instance number. Instance numbers must start at 1, and increment by 1 for each additional instance.  (Please also refer to the section below regarding special considerations for the instance numbers)

I will maybe send support another email.

I have the 530 fitting in my DesktopAviator GPS Panel and it looks Great.

Sending more emails to me isn't going to change a thing. Perhaps you should continue interacting here?

What is confusing you?

EDIT: I have re-read my post and I see where it can come off as being abrupt and condescending. That was not my intent.

The forums are here for tech support and are a great place for it because others can search the forums for answers, and your topic might be just what they're wondering about.

I would have to blame my confusion on ,a few years ago I legally got to start using the seniors pricing at  restaurants.

I must have been reading through my bifocals,hmm,trifocals. :lol:

Any way all is understood and the GPS looks great.

I have the DesktopAviator GPS Panel and below are the numbers I came up with to make the Mindstar Gps fit into my DesktopAviator  panel.

Changes are made in the Panel.cfg and the 5th parameter numbers would have to be adjusted to your own setup.

gauge00=MPI_GNS!GNS530, -24, -6, 129, 71, 2:2:15531    this crops the GPS to fit my LCD screen

Thank you for all the help Ed

Modification was done , the numbers above are not correct,seems I copied it from an older .cfg file

Use these

gauge00=MPI_GNS!GNS530, -24, -10, 149, 138, 2:2:15531
