Traffic Optimizer for FSX/P3D

Recommended Posts

What I did in FSX SE. Hi Stuart, I had the same problem, fixed it by (1) downloading latest updates from MS (2) Had Steam check FSX files for integrity (it came back with 200 odd discrepancies) This will not, by the way, harm any add-ons you have installed. After this it all works perfectly.

Really? My general impression of running other programs under Steam is that if you replace certain files with an updated version, that Steam command will delete that file and put back the default. For example, if an addon replaces any stock FSX-SE texture with a file of the same name, the integrity check will undo that.

Well I have done several integrity checks with no untoward problems at all. And I'm running:-  GEX, UTX Europe 2, Zinatec HD Airports, REX4, REX Soft Clouds, ASN, ProATC X, PrecipitFX, AI Controller, Traffic Manager, EZCA 1.85, AI Ships, UK2000 AP, Aerosoft Airbus, PMDG 777 + FS2Crew 777 and soon, hopefully, PMDG 737 NGX and FS2Crew, Oh, and Aivlasoft EFB.

I own both UT2 and My Traffic. AI models in UT2 are very good. However, UT2 has one major flaw. It does not depict traffic over water. This was a big let down for me. So I went in for My Traffic.

Is this needed with the UT2 FPS optimize tool already built in?

Benefits? Drawbacks?

Thanks,

Andre,

No I truly didn't know! I will take a look.

Just out of curiosity, any performance improvement with the settings adjustment? I know it's an older post, just following up.

I've found the built in optimizer has one deal breaking flaw. If you set the fps limit to 25, for example, the moment you hit 25 or lower, you will literally watch a plane taxiing in front of you or plane taking off, disappear into oblivion. Not particularly immersive. The Traffic Optimizer is setup to drop planes beyond visual range while maintaining fps, particularly if you set a reasonable target. I still have packed airports, meanwhile planes 20-30 miles away are disappearing like crazy!

None for me compared to the UT2 setting.

That's what I meant to ask about, UT2 interface setting.

May I ask how many are you spawning and what mile radius?

When I was using UT2 it was maximum number at the maximum distance.

If I run traffic at 40% and have planes set to 100, I see no difference in performance, nothing is deleted ..no change in FPS. Should I lower the 100 number?

Like the radar feature.

You should check the status Window in the optimizer to see what it is deleting. Use the "verbose" setting. In any case, a little experimentation is worth it.  See what you get with various combinations of the P3d percent settings and the TO numbers.

Also, are you preserving airport traffic?. At an airport like either O'Hare or Hartsfield, doing so will negate any benefit gained from the Traffic Optimizer.

Hey, it seems that the file is not available anymore. Could anyone provide a new download link?
