yes these still hold true in P3D

i have tried these out; but they do not change the color issue we're seeing

 

these settings are very straight forward;

they control the darkness or brightness of the day/night in fsx itself

normally winter nights are crisp darker then summer nights

these variations allows you to manually set a darker/brighter night or day
