Help - New to MCE

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have just downloaded the demo version and wanted to check before I buy the license.

I have a question on the installation.

Can MCE be installed on a separate PC, a second laptop that I use to run Aivlasoft EFB, and soon to be moving FSCopilot for VATSIM.

I currently have fs2crew for level-d, so if Multi crew can be moved to a second pc, i can then discontinue the fs2crew.

I am idaelly trying to have FSX on the desktop pc, and move the voice, vatsim and EFB to a laptop.

I own a licensed copy of FSUIPC, but do not currently own WideFS.

Appreciate your feedback.

Thanks

Hari

Hello Hari

MCE doesn't work through the network because it doesn't rely on FSUIPC.dll and wideFS.

If we were in the 2000-2005 time frame, with single core processors running at 800 MHZ, we would no doubt have sought to create our own networking solution.

These days, as long as you have a dual core or higher, there will be zero impact on FSX (or P3d) performance.

Thanks to our careful design, only a small dll (fsInsider.dll) runs inside the simulator process.

The heavy part, including speech recognition engine and FO audio, runs in a separate process called "mce.exe".

Should anything wrong happen to MCE or the speech engine becomes unresponsive after a couple of hours, your flight, the most important thing, will never be compromised. You can restart MCE any time without having to go back to the gate in a cold and dark scenario. Co-pilot will always be in synch.

There is also very little overhead in terms of VAS usage making more of it available for heavy aircraft, weather or scenery add-ons that don't have the luxury to choose where to run.

MCE will work with Radar Contact ATC when the latter is networked though.
