How about all the other questions I asked? The more you can tell us the easier it will be for us to help you?.

I have installed Ultimate Traffic 2 which has altered the timezone.bgl file, but I wouldn't know how to change it

Is it now remained to timezone.utb?

I wouldn't know if the timezone.bgl file is corrupt or not, and no it has not been renamed to timezone.utb. However I do know there is an issue with the timezones in my FSX because the timezone in London is off GMT by 1 hour which is wrong as in reality London shares the GMT time. I haven't used any programs to sync the time in FSX until last night I downloaded FS Realtime which fixes the timezone issue but doesn't fix the texture issue.

I don't remember what my FSX was like before I had installed Ultimate Traffic 2 because I've had it for so long.

I used to have Ultimate Terrain X and Ground Environment X installed before using Orbx Global and Vector products.

How soon before sunset do your night ground textures load?

I run UT2 as well, but mine is renamed to .utb because I am using the timezone fixes that are included in the latest patched up UT2. I am assuming that when using the UT2 timezone fix they rename it from .bgl to .utb with utb standing for Ultimate Traffic Backup.

Never used it, so I can't comment on it with, but was thinking that if you were already using UT2's built in timezone fixes that one of these programs could be causing an issue. However, since you already had the problem prior to this, it doesn't look like that is the cause.

The reason I was asking is because there is always a cause and effect and was trying to understand if FSX never had this issue from the time you installed it, then one day in starting doing this. The sim can't just go from fine to messed up without something having been introduced into the mix to cause the problem and that was what I was help you determine, if it was fine then you installed something and then it started doing this, then we would try to eliminate the last thing you installed and see if that fixes it.

Not long at all and certainly not as early as 2 or 3 in the afternoon.

Since you don't have a recollection of when this started in relation to something you may have tweaked or installed, then of course it's a lot tougher to diagnose.

The one thing you could try short of reinstalling the sim would be to essentially turn off all your addons and test the sim.

1. Fired up FSX and go into the scenery section and untick all your addon sceneries but not the default stuff, hit ok, then go back to the start up screen and close FSX.

2. Next make a backup copy of you FSX.cfg, place it somewhere safe and delete the FSX.cfg from the folder it resides in. When you star FSX the next time it will generate a new one and you can test from scratch.

3. Go into you exe.xml and dll.xml files, open them with notepad and essential turn off all the .dlls by renaming the section where it says <Disabled> False </Disabled> and change the false to True, then save.

Note, in the exe.xml don't turn off the first one called <Filename> exe.xml, but turn off all the ones that are from addons. In the DLL.xml, don't turn off the first one as well called <Filename> dll.xml, but turn off all the addon dll's.

What your essentially doing is turning off all you addons and addon sceneries without actually uninstalling them. Doing so will let you test FSX out to see if your still having the issue. If not, then you can start turning on addons until the problem comes back. At that point once the cause is determined you can talk to the developer to seek support.

4. Once all your addons and sceneries disabled and the fsx.cfg is deleted, start fsx and say No to all the modules that are going to ask if you want to run them, you can turn them on later after to test.

Selected your time and place that you normally see the night textures turning on early and see if it still does it. If not, then it would appear than something you installed is causing it. You'll have to use the process of elimination by turning on the sceneries and dlls one at a time and testing until you get the issue again.

Hope this helps. Let us know if it still happens with everything shut off.

FSX is not aware of DST changes!

this was discussed on many forums; just google it; there is a way to fix this,

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/fsx-timezones.4451/#post-54922

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/timezone-findings.198499/

beside that; your threshold for day and night are wrong!

use this

[GRAPHICS]
DAY_THRESHOLD=65535
NIGHT_THRESHOLD=0
below is timezone.bgl info to compare with yours

Okay so I did everything as instructed in this suggestion, I disabled all addons and all the exe's and dll's that you suggested and let FSX generate a fresh new FSX.cfg.

The night ground textures appearing too early continues to happen.

So there's obviously something wrong with something that I've installed with FSX perhaps the timezone file is still messing this up. If it means anything, I am running FSX in Direct X 10 mode with Steve's DX10 Fixer.

I don't think there is a fix.

I don't remember, how does default FSX night work?
