Flying wild Alaska

Recommended Posts

Start in Old Harbor (6R7) - in nice weather conditions.

But the map already shows clouds - well, it's Alaska and not the Canaries ...

And here they are, the clouds

The destination Kodiak (PADQ) almost in sight - behind the hill and "below" the left wheel.

There it is ...

Nice little airport

Duration of the flight was about 25 mins.

I plan to do more flights in this region and hope to get weather like this (from ca. 1:45). If need be, I will create it myself.

Quite beautiful. X-Plane, FSX or P3D? I'm having difficulties telling them apart these days. Any scenery addons in place?

Thank you+

Sascha

I would say XP10 after only a slight glance.

Next flight ... from Unalakleet (PAUN) to ... let's wait and see B).

ctb6revdil4htaq0g.jpg

Successful start (no deer or other animal crossed the runway). Behind the estuary you can see the runway of PAUN

ctb6sqm7uzwyjoz74.jpg

Quite sunny weather, this way flying is big fun

ctb6tr96a8zcmetkg.jpg

ctb6ubziaoas0c7xs.jpg

Some clouds are crossing the way ...

ctb6uoqylamq739rk.jpg

... actually not clouds, but high fog. Some hills still stand out

ctb6vkn9nbr3bz3g0.jpg

ctb6wu2f66p1f8lrk.jpg

Descent to Holy Cross (PAHC) - not yet visible. It should be somewhere below the front wheel.

ctb6xn9d65d8h4r3k.jpg

That's the way of living in Alaska ... an airfield in front of your door ...

ctb6z1m3hxj2iikog.jpg

ctb700a532qatssa8.jpg

Turn-over at the (almost) end of the runway

ctb70fmmk8do849ww.jpg

Very short taxiway and you're already on the apron

ctb7165fp2n4gnghc.jpg

Holy Cross. How many people do live here? Not many: 227 (census 2000). Although the landscape is some kind of fascinating - I wouldn't like to live here ... especially in winter. Dark all the time AND cold.

ctb72iei38m7jwy0g.jpg

Flight time was 45 minutes.
