New VATSIM Website Makes it Easy

Recommended Posts

VATSIM, the Virtual Air Traffic Simulation Network, is pleased to announce the release of its newly designed website.

Following 5 months of exhaustive recasting of the more than 110 page website, VP of Web Services Kieran Hardern and his international team went live with the new site today.  Prior to today’s launch, the site had not experienced a major overhaul for over 4 years.

The newly crafted site is elegant in its simplicity and functionality, making it easy for new and experienced users to navigate the whole of VATSIM, from joining, to moving through the ranks of pilot and controller instruction and operations, to the downloading of our free software necessary for connection to our free network, to using our forums.

Assisting in the process were:

Development:

·  Kieran Hardern – VP Web Services VATGOV6 (UK)

·  Roy De Vos Burchart (Netherlands)

·  Tyler Pittaway (UK)

·  Joe Clifford (UK)

Content:

·  Tom Seeley (USA)

·  Kyle Ramsey (USA)

·  Gunnar Lindahl (UK)

·  Mark Richards (New Zealand)

Beta Testing:

·  Deon Mathews (South Africa)*

·  Richard Jenkins (USA)*

·  Florian Harms (Germany)*

·  Adam Trzcinski (Germany)*

·  Colin Schoen (USA)*

The website is available at www.vatsim.net.

Looks nice.  I wish VATSIM would have a GA initiative or something.  There seems to be just so little general aviation from what I observe.  Maybe folks are intimidated or something or they see that it's mostly jets.

Gregg,

Our pilot program has a complete module and rating for VFR pilots, which covers all aspects of general aviation.

Even without the rating, all of our controllers are schooled in the care and feeding of general aviation pilots and there should be ample support for anyone who does not fly the big iron, from pure VFR, to flight following, to general aviation IFR flights.
