Full screen problem in DX10

Recommended Posts

I recently installed a SSD and it replaced my HDD with FSX on it. I changed the registry  etc and can operate FSX. The problem is that no matter what I do I just cannot get Fullscreen any more. I use DX10 ( with DX10 fixer) and all was fine until I now play. I used to be in fullscreen with DX10. I have searched hi and low for any help but it just will not go into fullscreen. I have tried alt/enter, clicking on View in FSX  but nothing. If I try alt/enter or View I just get the pause activated and no view change. It is driving me mad, especially as i did not have this problem before when playing FSX on the old HDD.

Yes the view change works in DX9 but I cannot work out why it doesn't in DX10 when it did work fine before. Can someone make my day and offer a fix for this please?

By the way I use GFX 780 GPU.

I am still having the problem I mentioned in my post above. Can anyone help me?

My FSX cfg shows 1920 X1080, my setting in Display in FSX is set at 1920x1080. I have tried every known method, alt/enter, trying to change View to full screen when FSX is running. Have changed my nvidia control panel setting to No Scaling from Fullscreen, but no way will it give me fullscreen. I have tried the Pseudo fullscreen application but do not like it.

I must be missing something since my fresh install that was there in my old install. I use DX10 fixer.

When FSX is loading click on an empty space on the desktop. (Do this BEFORE FSX loads!)That will produce a half size black window. Then click full windowed mode, full screen ought to be available in the normal way. Works for me.

How long does it take for 'smug' to wear off after buying an EV?

Hi Ron .. just to clarify what you are suggesting..... what do you mean when FSX is loading? Are you talking about loading a flight or just starting up the FSX program? Also are you saying to click full windowed mode after flight has loaded and then go to the Views option at the top of the screen ( alt key) Sorry to sound dumb but just want clarification. At his very moment I have just clicked on DX10 preview and will fire up FSX after your reply. Many thanks

You've clicked the shortcut, a loading box appears. That's when you click the desktop. Behind the loading box appears a black screen. Maximise it. FSX finishes loading and your rotating aircraft screen appears. Load your flight then go to full screen as per normal once you're sitting in the cockpit. How's that?

I click the FSX shortcut a blue FSX loading box appears, I click on the desktop but I see no black box to maximise. The loading blue revolving wheel appears and I cannot move the loading box to see if there is a black box behind it.

Then I'm flummoxed! Do you have UIAutomationCore.dll in your FSX folder? If not get it. (Google will know where to get it)

That's it, I'm out of ammo. :(

There is always hand to hand combat Ron!   This is a really strange situation, I wish I could offer some more insight and suggestions.

Actually, just thought of something.   Uninstall the DX10 Fixer (actually I think you can just revert back to DX9 mode and remove the shaders) and revert back to DX9 mode..   Run FSX and confirm it goes back to full screen.   Next, check the DX10 Preview box, but without the fixer installed.  Does this work?   I am just wondering if there is an issue with the way the fixer is working in your current setup.

Actually I got the procedure arse about face! Select your a/c and airport etc/load flight. THEN when FSX is loading click the desktop. Sorry about that, put it down to old fart syndrome.

Mine seems to be running really smooth.
I can send you my NVI cfg if you want to try against that aswell.

I would delete your FSX.cfg and let FSX make a new one. I had this issue where FSX wouldn't remember window positions, keep maximized (windowed mode, even though it was initially set to fullscreen), etc. So I just deleted my config file and started over. Haven't had too many issues since.
