Another radar gauge for VC & Window usage

Recommended Posts

@roland_lfor, I spent a lot of time trying to integrate it into a virtual cockpit for the Xtreme Prototypes Lear 25 but without success.

XP do provide an excellent manual including how to substitute the Rex / MilViz gauge for a 3rd party one. But the default placeholder remains in place so I gave up.

The 2D popup is fine and I toggle it with a button on my throttle quadrant. 👍

Dear Ray, I too purchased the Xtreme Prototypes Lear 25 but found it impossible to integrate radar in the placeholder.

If you find a solution with this amazing aircraft to have weather radar please let me know.

Hi Kyp,

This is the code to have a 2D popup for the Lear. It's pretty good and the bigger window compensates for it not being part of the VC.

This is for the Retrofitted option but the code is fairly generic. First make a copy of your panel.cfg for safety.

Then open it and add this entry to the [Window Title] section. If you have more entries than me just change the number to the next available.

Window02=Roland Wx Radar

Then after the Window01 section add this...

// Roland Wx radar 2D panel ------------------

[Window02]
size_mm=500,500
zorder=4
gauge00=RolasnRadar!ShellRadGauge, 0,0,,, sweep|beam|icing|nogps

You will need his weather gauge of course. That goes in the gauges folder.

Load the Lear 25 and press Shift+3. The gauge with its bitmap surround will appear bottom centre. Move it as desired. Although the controls don't move they do work so use the mouse to turn it on then go through the test phase and finally the active option. With ASP3D running you should now see a radar scan. The pitch and distance options work.

I use a switch on my Logitech throttle quaddrant to toggle it on/off.

Hope that helps.

@Kyprianos Biris, there’s an updated dll on page 2 of that topic.

Hello, has someone had this great add-on running in P3D 5.4?

So, I'll answer my own question: Today it worked, no problems, after having not worked yesterday.
