WINDOWS 10 and what it mean for us.

Recommended Posts

Well Jim I can tell you I had some major problems with FSX operating under Windows10 ! I didnt expect any problems since it is a Microsoft program....but my Fsx didnt function properly...It took at least 15 minutes

to start up and changing from one aircraft to another took another 15 minutes an changin scenery same story . I tried several days with adjustments to see if anything changed for the better..result: zero !

Unfortunately i had to return to my good old Windows7 Ultimate...and everything went very smooth again.I warned my friends:" Be carefull if you install windows10 its a disaster for your FSX!"

John F,

Did you install the proper Win 10 video drivers for your system? Using the generic Win 10 drivers would cause this.

I tried going from windows 7 to 10 and had a number of issues with FSX products. It ran FSX fine but when you add NEXT, Plan-G, trackerir, vatspy, fsx fiber accelerator, and vpilot it crashes. It looks like windows 10 is like vista when it came out with all the folder permission issues that don't allow one program to access other folders etc. I messed with it for a few days and gave up. Glad I used Macium reflect to take an image of my machine before I went to 10. Restoring back to windows 7 only took 40 minutes and I'm back up again.....

Has anyone else had similar issues and figured out a way to resolve this other than a maybe a clean install.  I have so many add-ons.  Microsoft keeps trying to protect users from messing up a system and forgets people like us that know what to do and not to do so we don't need these type of permission restrictions.

Bill

I'll wait a few months and then try again.  Maybe some things like this will work out in bug fixes.

Sheesh it sounds like Win10 is a mess! Even if its only for a few people, I don't think I want to gamble my rock solid smooth 7 setup for what? Is there any pro's to going to 10? I keep hearing more and more eventually it will be subscription based.

Yes, there are performance boosts.

Subscription based? No, it won't be. Please put your pitchfork away.

I don't have a pitchfork, I just passing what I heard, I hope its wrong as well. Performance boosts, how so? OS takes less resources, or they optimized certain handling? This works for all games, or more so in specific titles?
