[24JAN15] FSX:SE Compatibility and Other Juicy News...

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

Let me ask one thing. I have the 777-200 sp1c version. My next step will be to buy the -300 expansion. So, it will be the sp1c of the base package with the sp1d of the expansion, right? It will work?

Or prior to install the expansion I will have to install the sp1d of the base package too?

Best regards

Christiano-

It will!

You won't even notice all the FSX:SE drama... we set the installers up so that it is largely transparent unless you have a version conflict- in which case it will offer you some guidance.

In your case- goferit.

Considering that real Boeing 777 customers typically spend a lot longer then 1 1/2 months to install upgrades or retrofit their aircraft, I would be thankful.

http://www.cntraveler.com/galleries/2013-06-02/behind-the-scene-look-united-airlines-777-reconfiguration/1

If your next comment would include something that hints at it just being software and lines of code, I would then invite you to go take an introduction class to C++ or C# coding and come back in 1 1 1/2 months when you've released your first 777.

Good luck!

But I'm not the person promising lots of things and that they'll come quickly and then take ridiculously long, am I?

I'm not sure why you're making comparisons to real life however, I fail to see the relevance.

I guess instantly is the only outcome you would accept?

Enjoy your own disappointment.

Awesome that you do this for NGX especially with the radar.

I want to be clear that we are calling this FSX update SP1d for the NGX products, as we are not going to get to a few of the major items we intend for the SP2 update that has been discussed for some time.

I like the MD-11 a lot. Its a beautiful plane. Is it possible to install the radar and even terrain radar as well? With a little update?

I love the planes from PMDG, and the way you handle us the PMDG community.

Jens -

The MD-11 updates were deceased a long time time ago, and it is considered as a legacy product. So there will be no updates to the MD-11. It won't be released for Prepar3D.

Julian-

We have seen a few folks talk about installing the simconnect files- but we aren't yet backing that requirement as being valid.  We have done a bit of followup on it and best we can tell it is placebo effect.  (<gasp>  I **KNOW**  Simmers falling for placebo effect?!?!?)

In part- we all are running machines that have them installed previously- but I ran a clean install on FSX:SE on a new machine and they all installed of their own accord....

If you have specific information that isn't just "well some guy in a forum three blocks down tried it once on his mother's cousin's laptop and it seemed to cure the problem" kind of information....  please let me know.

We are still researching this one...

Robert,

I can tell you with confidence (and empirical knowledge) that installing all versions of simconnect FIXES MY ISSUE! :Applause:

My situation (posted in another thread but will recap here):

  • Net new win 8.1 install (new laptop)
  • Net new Steam install (into program files(x86) folder)
  • Net new FSX:SE install (FSX:MS never touched this machine)..it installed itself in the normal Steam sim folder.

Was getting the No Gear, No Displays, static model, no countdown to load systems, etc.

Troubleshooting steps:

  1. UAC off, Install as admin, antivirus OFF. - NO LUCK.
  2. Submitted ticket, got the PMDG_777_Activation.exe app from Pete (just in case it was a combo of install on new machine/steam/win 8.1)
  3. uninstalled 777,  ran activation app (usual antivirus off, and as run as administrator), reinstalled,..NO LUCK.
  4. Installed ALL simconnect MSIs in this path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces.
  5. Rinse, lather repeat steps 1-3 (with reboots smattered in between all steps.)

Follow steps in green...SUCCESS!  :Applause:

Hope this helps others out there!

I do not (or ever had) an issue with the operations center, all liveries display and install fine.

Glad you got the 777 working Baptiste, you may need to put a service ticket for you ops center issue.

Hi,

unable to locate new 777 SP1d installer.

I followed instructions as per Ops center notification - can only locate 777 SP1c installer.

Please clarify.

Thanks a lot Steve!

I had the same problem...lack of wheels, no activation request etc, but for whatever reason I installed 3 simconnect.msi files I had in my backup fsx folder, and now the 777 is alive again. I had no trouble with the installer. I am only running FSXSe.

According to what I am reading from PMDG and the problems I am having with FSX-SE even before trying to install 777, it looks to me and I am sure to many of you, that Dovetail Games was very in a rush to pitch SE to the market to start recovering their investment.

This is hurting us, the virtual flying community.

I have had trouble trying to install ORBX despite of I updated the simconnector and made several changes on the registry. I know how to deal with that.

FSX-SE is not uniform in respect to installation.

I don't think it is a bad idea to many of us ask for a refund of the money we paid for the botched FSX-SE.

Proabaly Dovetail Games knows a lot about trains and their on addon for trains but when they have to go off the track and take the air... I agree with Robert's comments about Dovetail Games knowledge.

I am with u on this...have u see that there are two folders under microsoft path one is FSX ES and the other one is FSX ..they both have FSX cfg ....is so weird and confusing.....crazy

Great to hear John!

I think that it really doesn't hurt anything to run the installers, it should be a default step in any FSX:SE install scenario.

So I see you are running FSX:SE only, did you ever have FSX:MS installed on that machine?  I would assume so based on your "in my backup fsx folder"...and that may be significant.  My new laptop had never seen an FSX install ever (either version), so my situation was just a bit different.

The way I see it...here are the possible scenarios:

  • FSX:MS originally installed, then installing SE side by side.  (not sure if different drives would make much diff, at this point I think it would be all registry entries with dual installs)
  • FSX:MS originally installed, uninstalled, then SE installed, MS never reinstalled
  • FSX:MS originally installed, uninstalled, then SE installed, MS reinstalled
  • Reverse the MS and SE version in above situations to round out all six possible installs

There might be more (head's still spinning after finally resolving my issue), but that pretty much covers the most common ones.

Wish this stuff was easier, but it never is, hehe.  To many variables, especially with every simmer with a unique PC build, config, set of preferences, etc.

Off to enjoy my 1st real flight in my new rig, new version of FS and of course the stunning PMDG 777.
