Some major progress I've made on the Atlas V launch vehicle, which is applicable to aircraft and rockets in general, made possible largely due to support from the Outerra developers.

While not complete, the launch vehicle is an assembly of separate parts, which can be attached in a number of configurations. The final version will include a user interface for launch vehicle configuration and customization, including selecting between the Atlas V 400 and 500 series, choosing a Payload/Flight Vehicle to launch, Payload Fairing size, up to five Solid Rocket Boosters and selecting between the Single Engine Centaur (SEC) or Dual Engine Centaur (DEC) upper stage. It will also support user-made payloads, and easily customized graphics on the Common Payload Fairing Module. Part of the GUI will be a mission planning interface, where you will be able to program the guidance computer for the mission, including different types of earth orbits or transfer orbits, and given a selected launch vehicle configuration and flight vehicle calculate and visualize the approximate trajectory and delta V.

Here are a few screenshots for your enjoyment!  laugh.gif

Best regards,
Uriah

New dataset (earth2) version, Talkeetna airport only:

[Download full version] v2 - 97mb

Here is Talkeetna airport for earth2. I hope to be able to work on this area again later, but I will wait for OSM roads for that smiley.gif
I'm really with this version of the airport, way cleaner than the previous one.

[RELEASE] Rafale M By ZZZ

My favourite jet.

Designed for 3rd person view. Working control surfaces, lights and cannon. Stall, gear, and overspeed warnings.

Gear is not animated, though you still need to raise it to reduce drag.

Used an existing Rafale FDM. Though the real thing can roll at 270 deg/s, I think it's still too fast in the FDM.

Outerra user Andfly is always known for trying the unusual, and this is no exception! Watch Outerras attempt at natural flocking behaviors with zillions of objects!

That's brilliant!

Great!

Yeah, and it's surprisingly cool even if the plugin is very very alpha and Outerra clouds at the same state (limited draw distance, no refined geometry and effects at close distance and a single layer). I really like the direction it's taking :)

From Outerra Modder Andflyhttp://forum.outerra.com/index.php?topic=3615.30;topicseen

I "put his hands" on the model of the flock of birds to try to improve it and, above all, because I noticed a flaw of this model (and my other earlier) regarding the execution speed of the animations. I was always aware of this aspect of the simulations and I always connected the timers, set in the script, the value of "dt", which is the time between one frame and the next.

I had not thought that the intensity of the forces (being exercised in every frame) increases in proportion to the value of the FSP, which is not the same for all computers. With user-driven models the problem is less obvious: If you over-speed you stop operating the motor and the model slows ...

With fully autonomous models the force of movement is decided by the program and varies considerably if it is exercised 30 times per second or 150 times per second !!!

I noticed only when, recently, I changed the computer ...

So I had to equip the script of a small section which "reads" the FPS value and determines a coefficient which is used every time you run a command that carries a "moving force". In this way the speed of the simulation should be similar for all the computers and similar to the speed that I thought "right" when I built the model.

To be sure of its operation I used the most gentle of HiFlyer cooperation (to which I am very grateful for the time and patience that has dedicated to Tests, and thank you very much), who has just equipped its computers on a Nvidia Gtx 1080 , and therefore is "the opposite extreme," as computing power, of my modest system.

I apologize to anyone who has seen "squirt fast" my models ... have thought the inexperience of an amateur ...
For it is just that, but ... even the mistakes are useful to learn and progress!

When I have a little time I will devote myself to a "restoration" general ...

Here are the links to download the reworked models:

Flock of birds:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6114pZ3kPTgRXRnWWJ5YmZBTG8/view?usp=sharing
(It is installed in a new folder: BIRDS. You can erase, without regret, the old BIRDS450 folder).

Monarch butterflies:

A New Model: Colorful butterflies.

The swarm of wasps did not present any major problems and has remained the same as before.

Osm import test in latest version of Outerra:

Swiss road network and city of Bern.

Explanation from user Acetone:

Bern was added in Outerra in the last update (http://forum.outerra.com/index.php?topic=3547.msg42555#msg42555). It's an early demo of the OpenStreetMap implementation in Outerra.

OSM is a world database of roads and buildings locations, kind of like Gmaps but open and community driven. The buildings in this scene are from World2Xplane, a model pack created by TonyWob for Xplane and converted by Levi for Outerra (with authorization).

It's a placeholder since Outerra doesn't have a lot of buildings yet. The only hand-made part of the scenery is the airport visible at the end, made by Uriah and me, it's not yet something the generator can handle. But everything else (roads + buildings position) is generated from OSM. The devs are still working on the importer, once it's ready there will be a global dataset release for the whole world :)
