NGX upgrade

Recommended Posts

I don't know what to tell you...it's a module built by HifiSim that comes with ASN that hooks directly into the FSX program, much like FSUIPC does.  It doesn't belong to PMDG, Opus, REX, or anyone else.  HifiSim allows other developers to use their exported data from this module to make a weather radar...like PMDG did.

If you want Opus to work the same way, you have to bug Opus to build a similar module.  It's not PMDG or ActiveSky's problem.

Gee that's too bad.  Being very new to PMDG I had no idea about the 777 since I don't own it and never knew how the WX worked.  I never knew it worked that way with that ASN module.  I too have Opus and not Active Sky.  Oh well, I'll be fine with it.  I'm fine with it as it is now.  I didn't even know it needed an update.  What do you think was wrong with it that needed an update?

There's a few things that users are asking for in the NGX.  You can do a search on what people are asking for...I can only remeber a few.  But one of the big ones is that NGX users who also own ASN wanted the WX capability that the 777 had.  PMDG is coming through with that request.

The main reason they're doing an update is because the NGX isn't FSX-SE compatible yet...the WX is just a bonus.

And that's fine too...the 777 and the NGX work fine with this program.  I have nothing bad to say about Opus or any other WX software.

I don't understand, do you mean to say Opus will show up on the radar screen in the 777 or the NGX after the update?  That would be cool.  But I was led to believe from the above posts that you need some kind of module from ASN.

Now I'm confused.

Sorry.

Sorry to mislead you...I didn't type it clearly enough!  I see what you're saying!

No, the weather will not show up on the radar without the ASN module, that's the way it's programmed in PMDG's radar gauge.

What I mean is that your weather engine of choice (Opus) is fine, it works for you in FSX and that's great.

I see Devin, no offense taken.  Yes, Opus works fine for me but I have been considering that new REX soft colds.  Never used REX, ASN, or anything else but Opus and it works ok I guess.  It would be neat to see what it looks like with a weather indicator.  I only have the PMDG NGX and I'm waiting to spend my money of the new 747 whenever it is released.  I like the 777 and used to work on them but the 747 has always been my all-time favorite plane.

Best regards,

I hear ya buddy!  The Queen is still my favorite tubeliner by far.  Her lines are graceful and sleek...unlike that other double decker whale!!
