Jon Patch: Lost another good one :-(

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure where to put this.  I have just heard long time scenery maker Jon Patch has passed away.

Hopefully the AVSIM staff can verify this.

That would definitely be sad if true.

From AirdailyX - http://www.airdailyx.net/fsnewsbreaker/

"Terrible news today. The flight simulation community has lost a tremendous person and talent. I personally have not had direct contact with Jon but I am a huge fan of his work and efforts for the community. Here is a note from Francois Dumas of FSAddon who know him personally:

"I just heard the devastating news that Jon Patch, author of many wonderful Flight Simulator sceneries among which Vancouver Plus, passed away on the 22nd.

Jon was a wonderfully thoughtful person and an amazing talent in scenery design, with an incredible eye for detail and a tenacity to portray that detail into our flight simulator. As often in our 'on-line' life we will never know much about others in the hobby, just what we read and see on our computer screens.

But Nina and I had the pleasure of meeting Jon in Victoria on Vancouver Island back in 2007. An epic journey for us, with a chance to meet many of the FSAddon authors from the west coast! Jon really was one of the nicest people and always extremely helpful and knowledgeable in supporting his products on the forums.

I miss him already."

I am sure Jon's family could use all the support they can get from the flight simulation community. Please continue to purchase his products and any further information I get about how you can help will be posted here.

Jon, Rest in Peace."

I'm not that familiar with his work, but it's a shame to hear about the passing of one of our flight sim community members. At least his work will live on and be cherished for years to come. Thanks for everything you've done. Rest in peace Jon!

I'm shocked!  Jon's work has been on my PC's for years.  A good man that worked tirelessly for our hobby.  He will me missed.  RIP Jon.

Very tragic. John was a true gentleman and extremely talented developer. I did beta testing for Vancouver+ and got to study his work up close.

RIP.
