Why is there a duplicate entry for my video card in FSX.cfg?

Recommended Posts

I noticed a recent reduction of approximately 10-15 fps after I uninstalled Ut2.  I'm pretty sure I deleted all the files with the auto installer provided but I also manually deleted a few from the [trusted] entry in fsx.cfg...while I was there I noticed I had a double entry for my Display Device....Nvidia GeForce GTX 770.0 and Nvidia GeForce GTX 770.1 respectively.   Would/could this cause the sudden downtick in FPS?

I made no other adjustments or installed anything which would account for the drop...all the anti malware and AV checked good.

I also noted a line in the GRAPHICS section:

SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED=1693500672

What is this for?

Thanks

SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED=1693500672  This number came about with the introduction of SP1 according

to some old 2007 posts.  If it's set to zero it will come back to the original number.  Any auto updates to your

NVidia card?

Remove your fsx.cfg file and let it rebuild.

Duplicate display sections are either mistakes like upgrading your video card but not letting fsx.cfg rebuild, or for multiple monitor setups.

If I remember correctly GTX 770.0 is DX10 mode and GTX 770.1 is DX9.

I have the same, I think there is no harm to leave it as it is if you keep switching between DX10 and DX9. I stand to be corrected.

Cheers.

It means you have more than 1 monitor? Each monitors resolution are different.

How many monitors you have?

I have 4 monitors... Three monitors in wide view + a 4th monitor and I have two entries .0 and .1 for each set

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670.0.0]
Mode=6000x1200x32
Anisotropic=1
AntiAlias=1
[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670.0.1]
Mode=1024x768x32
[MULTIPLAYER]

For a single monitor set-up, Aussiedin is absolutely correct.

0.0 represents DX9 and 0.1 would represent DX10.
