Bug list DA42

Recommended Posts

Louis, have YOU contacted Alabeo regarding your findings? Have YOU contributed anything positive to this discussion? What we all have in common is an exciting hobby, and we should not forget that there will always be a gap between such low-cost simulation and a professional simulator or even the RW airplane. You complain about the cost for this addon but seem to forget that a single flight hour with the real DA42 can easily cost ten or twenty times that much....

Yes, yes - and yes, we can when it is an abject failure in representing the aircraft. I don't expect perfection. I do expect a software developer to continue to support the aircraft out of the paid-for beta stage.

Witness the work being done by Flysimware on BOTH their Mitsubishi Mu-2 (8 updates and climbing since release in April) and their Cessna 441 - at version 1.7 and still responding to customer requests. Witness too that they at least are not afraid of having a public forum.

The Aeroplane Heaven-developed, Wilco-sold Tecnam P2006T - 3 amends to get it to a reasonable approximation.

Interesting that the Cessna is listed at $34.99, the Moo at $41.99, while the Tecnam was just $22 bucks and had three quite substantial updates.

Alabeo have no excuse for not listening and acting for their $34.95. They might at $17.50.

I bought the Alabeo DA42 yesterday, primarely to use it with the G1000 as a instrument trainer.

First litt bug I notet as quite opposite of the real aircraft, the parking brake function is reversed.

Then I found the whole aircraft at times really difficult to fly and control actually. I know one have to work rather hard with the rudders in real with this byrd, but with calibrated joystick right set up, I several times during stabilized coordinated turns, expreinced the plane actually making uncontrolled severeal yaws (as suddenly spikes) out to either side (with wind or not).

But the far more serious issue for training instrumentflying on th G1000, is the very inaccurate representation of correct attitude on the PFD. Having reached cruise and level flight 70% power setting, the AI had to be flown 5o to even stay level! For making the things only to get worse, the std.by Artificial Horizon was as the time straight and level showing 10o pitch up!

This strong inaccuricy is unfortunately useless for practic flying and training. And I don't sertainly now want to start learning new and wrong atiititudes to fly just to get what should be the real, Trying flying straight and level by the PFT of course ended med up the Diamond being i a climb.

I am dissapointed to be honest and knowing Carenado and Alabeo as customer for many years, this bird seems to me as a real good step backwards in what realism in imporante areas is concerned.

I noticed the FMS Outer knob will not move to through the Chapters (MAPS,NAV,AUX,FPL)

Direct to Entry in the FPL is still broken(like other carenado/alabeo planes) the double keying of letters.

Folks, if you found bugs, send them over to Carenado. Their operation isn't big so things take time to get fixed but they do listen.

Not sure if anyone has encountered any of these with the V2 model of this addon, not submitted any tickets as Ive not trawled through the topic to see what has and hasnt been submitted.

Ive noticed 3 since my purchase today, but they're random, and restarting the flight before you fly usually fixes them.

The model disappearing was fixed by selecting FSX as the platform instead of FSX:SE after uninstalling and re-installing. However, on one occasion it returned, after i created a flight from the ALT>Flight menu which in turn changed my location.

Resolved by restarting them sim.

The second, all buttons in the VC become unclickable, I cant replicate it, to see what I did to cause it, but its happened twice now, only when im setting up on the deck, autopilot and starting the engines etc.

Third, two occasions in a new flight, using heading hold on the AP is 180 degrees out.  Example, i set the heading bug at 360, the twinstar turns and holds 180. Again, this is fixed by either restarting the flight or the sim.

Other than that, I love this aircraft, after having the eaglesoft DA42 in the past for FS9, this one for FSX is a step up in terms of visuals, looks a lot more pleasing to the eye.
