Early DX12 Benchmark

Recommended Posts

Some initial DX12 testing has been done on the Guru3d website - the increase in draw-call performance is staggering! I wonder how this will pan out for P3D/FSX performance?

Wow! Looks like I was off by a factor of 10! http://forum.avsim.net/topic/438786-p3d-v22-quick-impressions-from-a-developers-pov/?p=2960398

Holy smokes! Incredible stuff.

And birdman, you're right - it won't do anything for FSX since that's dormant code. P3D isn't, so there is massive potential.

As far as I have heard, some calls form DX11 will go through DX12 optimizations.  It may well be at some point we see benefits in P3D as is.  Crossing fingers.

Same hardware, same "bandwidth", but it's all about flow control.

WOW! Those are some insane numbers. Bring on Win X.

As i said in the other topic, it will do nothing. They will require engines to be updated too. And FSX engine is there, looking at us, since 2006.

Except for the minor changes DTG did now (and they are not allowed to make bigger changes anyway)

Since windows 10 and DX12 are available now, is it possible that someone could install P3D on Windows 10 to see how well the sim performs?

I'm going to wait for the drivers to come out, and for Windows 10 to stabilize a little bit more.  Shouldn't be long now, they are increasing their rate of releases.   I have it on one of my laptops, but it's not for simming,  There is some glitchyness around in it last I looked around.  Not ready for my desktop yet.

I have Windows 10 build 10041 and P3D 2.5 installed, I don't see no change.

FSX-SE is smoother than original FSX, but that was on windows 7 as well.

So that means P3D has to be re-written to take advantage of DX12? Then I really hope LM will do it soon after Win 10/DX12 is officially available.

Lockheed Martin HAS BEEN forewarned for MONTHS so they need to have the DX12 support ready BEFORE not after.

IMHO
