Can't start FSX

Recommended Posts

I installed Tracknoir and it didn't work so I deleted it using Advance System Care Pro with a deep un-install. I lost my FSX icon in the task bar in the process.

I searched my files to find something that might work , but couldn't . I ran a system restore six times each time with Windows Firewall, Advance System Care and Nod 32 disabled using different restore points each time , but they all failed. Any other ideas ? Thanks in advance.

Sorry you had a problem - FaceTrackNoIR didn't work at all for me initially until I found a profile for FSX online which got me started. As for FSX not working, FaceTrackNoIR installs completely independently of FSX (which is just one of many games it works with by default) so uninstalling it should not affect your FSX install. I've uninstalled it a few times when trying betas or moving it to another drive and haven't had any problems with FSX. Did you install it in the same folder as FSX (I have mine on a different drive now)? If so, is your FSX folder still there and intact? I've no experience of ”Advance System Care Pro" but FaceTrackNoIR is fairly straightforward opensource software and a default uninstall should have completely removed it.

I still have FSX because I checked the Windows un-install and it's still there. Right now I can't start FSX because the icon is gone.

Advance System Care Pro with a deep un-install. I lost my FSX icon in the task bar in the process.

This program will not uninstall any of your programs. It is a registry cleaner just like CCleaner. It usually backs up things it does so you can go into the program and restore things if you want.

There is another program made by the same developers of Advanced System Care Pro 8. It's called IObit Uninstaller and it does an excellent job at uninstalling programs and will even look for leftover items and offer to clean those up for you too. It also has a backup program so you can undo the process.

You can get the icon for FSX back by going to the main FSX folder and look for FSX.exe (it may just show FSX). Right click the FSX.exe and look for Pin to Start Menu or Pin to Task Bar or click on Send to the Desktop and it will put another icon on your desktop.

It is hard to understand how you would have lost the FSX icon though. If you uninstalled FSX, it will remove the icon. The IOBit Uninstaller will also find it after it has uninstalled FSX and remove the icon. It requires your action though. Uninstalling or removing an icon requires the user action. Another program cannot remove it unless you ask for it to be removed. Advanced System Pro 8 will scan your registry and HDD and, if it does not see FSX is installed on your computer system, it will remove anything related to FSX and that would remove the icon too.

Hope this helps.

You cannot do that! FSX.exe is what starts up FSX. Move the file back to the main FSX folder and do what I stated above. Right click FSX.exe and, in the menu of options, select pin to taskbar. This will send an icon for FSX.exe to your taskbar. But furst, you have to move FSX.exe back to the main FSX folder.

I mean't to say copied. Even before I copied it it didn't work. I ran a  FSX repair and got FSX to come up , but a pop up in front of it says that I ran out of disk space. My drive space has not changed  though.

You were just trying to get the icon back and now we have gone from a missing icon to running out of disk space? You should look in the Windows Explorer (which shows all of your drives and directories) and left click the drive (like C:/ or D:/ where the FSX directory is located and select properties. It will show you more information about the drive. It sounds like you have a major computer malfunction.

working correctly. Please close the program. So I found my lost icon, then corrected the drive is full message, now this. I don't know if it's getting better or worse.

For this issue you will need to download and run AppCrashView (see page 1 of the AVSIM CTD Guide) and post the results of the program here. It could be anything. Was it FSX that crashed with the fatal error message?

I don't know if the below info. is helpful , but I thought I would put it in just in case.

You have only the basic or deluxe version of FSX installed (v10.0.60905.0). The faulting module, simprop.dll is the version for FSX/Acceleration. Evidently you inserted your deluxe version of FSX into your DVD drive and selected the repair option. You also need to insert the Acceleration DVD and select the repair option or reinstall Acceleration (whichever shows).

Jim, I inserted discs i and 2. It said the maintenance was complete. I X that pop up out then inserted the acceleration , I immediately got the Error Message as before. I ran both discs the second time and didn't X the maintenance Complete pop up out then ran the acceleration disc again then once again got the Error Message that reads ;   E:\FSX\fsx exe            The application has failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command - line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail. This is the same message that I get when I go into my FSX file and click on FSX exe.
